"Safeguarding data" is a euphemism for Compliance Theatre. Large corporations are really **** at doing it right.
A little closer to Orwell, every day. How police secretly spied on a whole city Bolded bit emphasized for "UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR" quality.
Great read on lavabit, the encrypted email service that recently voluntarily shut itself down rather than submit to overly broad wiretapping. What's most interesting to me is the completely one-sided nature of the judiciary regime. Keep this (and the kazillion other stories like it) in mind the next time you hear someone utter the phrase "I have my rights".
Yeah, it's crazy how pretty much every branch of the govt. has let the American people down in this whole fiasco.
US House, acting in-step with the Obama Administration's preferences, guts the US FREEDOM act. Isn't that strange? The House, which has poisoned just about every attempt at collaboration is suddenly keen to acquiesce in regards to this particular bill. I wonder why... I am reminded of a post earlier in this thread...
It's horrifying and sad how few Americans care about this thread. These are your legal representatives doing things in your name, and you are dealing with the consequences of their actions, and you're responsible for what they do. Most are happy to debate about whether a Japanese or a Syrian or a Russian deserves freedom. Look what you do with yours. It's like a kid who's had a great toy for a long time and doesn't appreciate it anymore. Never plays with it. Won't share it with anyone. Throws it around. Instead of military service I think Americans should be made to go live in Saudi Arabia without an American passport for a year after graduating from high school. Get some perspective.
if you slowly boil a frog it won't realize it's dying until it's already dead. our privacy has slowly evaporating, and it's become too late to to do anything about it
The reality of the "Most Transparent Administration Ever". The price you pay for blowing the whistle.
