Scott Skiles as Head Coach, Jabbar, Ellie and Avery Johnson as Assistant Coaches.
[This is no worst than suggesting Wilkins as our Coach]

Scott Skiles - One of the strictest disciplinerians.
    Abdul Jabbar - Pot smoker
    Avery Johnson - Preacher

Yeah, that is exactly what this team needs. Our players will be on a strict diet of pot and preaching the medicinal benifits of bongs.

This might not be "worst than suggesting Wilkins as our coach", but is just at stupid. And I believe you do realize that, because you try to ward of any criticism by comparing it to another bad coaching hire.

So the biggest problem with Van Gundy is that he quit on his team, and his team quit on him, and now we're proposing Scott Skiles?

Personally, I think he'd be a good coach. But how much do we know about him?

What intrigues me is that he was a PG, and a fine one at that. I believe he holds the league record for assists in a single game.

What TYPE of oach is he though, who can we liken him to?

BTW Yetti, you should get this All Star staff thing out of your head. Les will not pony up the dough for that kind of staff, and besides, that many strong characters cannot co-exist with the other assistaants, much less the head coach.

He is a good coach, but not a good head coach. He is too damn strict. His own players in Phoenix quit on him.

I think you are right about him having the most assists in one game. Its either 32 or 33 when he was playing for the Magic.

I only made this suggestion because we find ouselves in the middle of a Coaching Circus and an
Owner that wouldnt pay $5mil/yr to the top teacher. Scott Skiles has been out of circulation,in the coaching ranks, for quite some time! I was being sarcastic because he has strong diciplin and should come very cheap.

scratch skiles...i love the discipline, but it means nothing if you cant sell your team on it, or posess the respect that forces them to...

jabbar would be an intriguing teacher for yao...no one 7-3 or taller has obviously ever been as great as kareem, and though his personal issues wouldnt want to be touched with a 10 foot pole, he could mold yao and teach him to use his height better than an elvin hayes or maybe even a moses malone could...

ellie is a must at asst coach...his fire and toughness is just the spark that our entire daycare errrr team needs to mature...

    same goes for pastor avery....

bring in another veteran experienced asst coach, pref an ex-head coach...

and oh yeah, by the was make mike dunleavy your head coach...................................................
