I find it odd when people praise Pyromania and then completely disown Hysteria. They're just not that different. Pyromania basically started pop metal and Hysteria took it to another level.
Hey, it's the Rush guy again who always looks down on 80s hard rock bands. Funny thing I noticed - AMG 5-star album count: Rush - 1 Def Leppard - 2
I grew up on 80s hard rock bands and going to those concerts. Just not Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison, Cinderella, Whitesnake, Dokken, Skid Row, Mr. Big, etc. . Had to draw the line somewhere. I always frowned upon what I consider the hair/pop rock stuff. They never qualified for my hard rock line-up. Too much hair spray and spandex going on. Yes, Rush raised my standards as far as musicianship goes.
Mr. Big was in the 80s? Weird. Nobody who lived the 80s didn't like these bands. You seem like a guy that's read a bunch of criticism and now you want to say all the BANDS you really were into back then. I'm sure you were into Slade and the Arrows. LOL
I played Pour Some Sugar On Me around some white guys at a bar and got laughed at. Backdoored some UGK to save face.
I don't need the benefit of hindsight. Even as a kid in the 80's, they made me want to pull my ears off. There are few bands I like less. Def Leopard, Bush, and Live. Those 3 make up the playlist to guarantee my suicide.

No way, Dokken isn't pop rock they're heavy metal. I still contend early DL and Bon Jovi are hard rock/metal. And let's not pretend Rush didn't make synthpop well let's face it... crap in the mid-late 1980s
