Click here to see the Ultimate Mario Player in action. Warning -- this movie is very long, but worth it. If you have trouble viewing it, try downloading this Codec. It runs better in Windows MediaPlay than RealPlayer for me.
Neo? EDIT: Upon further inspection, I'm nowhere near as impressed. Some invincibility code has been enabled (check out 8-3 where he runs through hammers and 8-4 where he swims through a fire trap). So he can corner jump, big deal. Though that trick with the beetles and hammer bros. in World 8 was nifty.
puh-leaze! everybody knows that the guy in the middle here is the best at any video game... oh yeah... and the guy below is probably the second best...
when you were eight? man... that movie is still good. here ya go... the wizard i'm ready for a sequel
I think I have an extra laserdisc copy of The Wizard if anyone wants it. I tried unloading it on eBay, but I couldn't find any takers.
Ugh... did anyone EVER think the Power Glove was cool? That has to be the lamest video game accessory of all time. Maybe I shouldn't say anything. We have the DDR Max game for the PS2, so we basically have the Power Pad...
OK, this pisses me off. I've tried to open this three times, at 15 minutes a download, and all that pops up is my Realplayer that says it won't run because I've run out of space. AND.... I've deleted over 250 megs trying to get this damned thing to open.
The worst game accessory of all time has to be the U-Force which came out right around the same time as the power glove. It was like a fold up l-shaped panel that had IR beams and you swung your hands through it. You were supposed to play punch out or something with it. I am almost tempted to grab that laserdisc version of Wizard, but unfortunately, while my parents have a laserdisc player, I do not.
i thought the pad that you run on was pretty lame. ya know the one that came on the same cartridge as mario and duck hunt? i mean CMON, we play nintendo so we dont HAVE to or are unable to run for real! that and everyone would just cheat and beat the pads with their hands. oh and duck hunt was awesome but it was too easy to just put the gun up to the tv and shoot those ducks point blank. ducks never stood a chance......
He is playing on an emulator, so it wouldn't be very hard to put some sort of invincibility code/hack in. I am impressed with the jumping though. B
...funny you mentioned that...(boring story ahead) The R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy) was never meant to be successful. Back in the mid 80's, video games were on the brink of extinction. Atari kept pumping out these generic, boring video games that all looked the same. Combine that with the recent release of ET, voted almost unaminously as the single worst video game of all time, and home video games were clearly at the lowest point in their history, so soon after being extremely popular. Well, in 1985, along comes this company called Nintendo, who had actually been around since the 19th Century when they made playing cards. They had a new video game system that they were trying to market. The problem was that toy stores were scared to death of the phrase "video games". So, Nintendo called it's system the "Nintendo Entertainment System". The R.O.B. was designed to make the system look more like a "toy" so the stores would carry the NES, and was never meant to be sold long term. 18 years later...well, you know the rest. Laugh at him all you want, but R.O.B. here might have just saved video games for everybody...DaDakota, that means that you might have actually had to get a REAL job!
Fatty -- Try right-clicking and saving it to your HD, then open it in Windows media player. It's a tad choppy in media player, but it wouldn't run for me in RealPlayer at all for some reason.
I did some research and apparantly everything he does is legit. This is clipped from another board: Also, all those tricks are possible. Dhsu wrote: I'm not sure how he did the wall jump trick This is done because the game thinks that there is still a small piece of ground underneath every single floor or pipe tile. If you notice when he is big he uses duck alot. This also has something to do with it and if you time it just right (really hard to do unless your that guy) you can jump off the small ledge of ground in the floor tile. Its strange but hey it works right? Dhsu wrote: killed Hammer Bros. from below, Simple, he used a fireball and just timed it perfectly. Watch it again. Dhsu wrote: and passed right through the fire chains This was partially explained already. It has something to do with ducking. If you are big Mario and hold down while trying to jump/swim in the water the game still thinks you are ducking BUT you will still see the regular swim animation because there is no animation for ducking and swimming. So when the upper-half of his body was passing through the chains he was in actuality ducking underneath them, it just looks like he magically went through them. Hope this clears things up a bit for most people lol. Pretty freaking impressive.
