so who do you want and why? I like Van Gundy, but I do hate the way he quit the Knicks.. really stick it out the last two months....... Both are intense, and have had success in the NBA, but not ultimate glory, of course Larry Brown hasn't either. They need to decide between these two quick before one of them gets hired by someone else. Of course the rest of the teams out there aren't very enticing. Clippers, Wizards, Hawks............. peace I pick Dunleavy, but who knows...
niether man Van Gundy looks like a troll or somethin like a lil monster man that be messed up having to to see that guy everyday as the head coach of the Houston Rockets that be f'ed up.
My question is can VG install an uptempo offense that pushes the ball upcourt to take advantage of our young legs at both guard spots and forward? Can MD instill and teach the fundamentals of tough defensive that is needed? Are the Rocks suited for VG's half court/slow down style of offense with so much youth and athleticism? My vote is Carlisle, who lacks the experience of both but could teach a more balanced brand of basketball
I think I'd rather have Rudy than either of them. I would have taken Brown over Rudy, but now its debatable. Now I'm beginning to think we've been idiots and handled this very poorly. Maybe we can pull a 'Spurs' or 'Mavs' move and get Dunlevy as HC and Carlisle as AC. They are stacked with groups of former head coaches. Maybe we can put a group together thats superior to what we had - but that is unknown at this point.
Good questions. If you're a Yao fan, then I think his game would be boosted immediately with JVG. Van Gundy has beaten his mentor in several series and he does have a brilliant basketball mind. He's not Larry Brown, but I'll put Van Gundy as second.
I have to ask a comparaison between these 2 coaches here. What are the cons and pros for each coach? What are they schems of play? Can they be respected by the players? Can they make good decisions in money time? From what I read and saw,I wouldn't mind Dunleavy as head coach with A.Johnson and Elie as assistant. ALA
I don't think it's a matter of the Rockets being idiots or handling the deal poorly as far as Brown is concerned. Who expected Detroit to dump their coach and go after Brown? My guess is that the only ones who knew it would happen was the Detroit management and Brown himself. As soon as Brown agreed in principle they dumped Carlisle. I really doubt that Brown was very interested in the Rockets at that point. Les has been more than willing to pull the trigger on big personnel moves in the past. (Drexler, Barkley, Pippen, Francis) My read is that once Brown knew that Detroit wanted him enough to pay him top dollar and fire a coach of the year who had his team one step away from the finals it was pretty much a done deal. I think Dunleavy would be a good choice and since I've been a Rockets fan since the 70's he is a sentimental favorite for me. Still, I would like to see Carlisle get an interview. He has proven he is a good coach and now that the fawning over Brown is done I think the Rockets need to look at all their options.
