Or at least that's what Morey wants other teams to think. ;)

I think Omer will be gone by this summer.

I think maybe as an expiring contract and/or confident he will resign with the team he was traded to. Otherwise, I think Morey is right he will stay for the duration of his contract. If anyone wants Asik, they'll do so in free agency where they don't have to deal anything to get him (since Morey will not take any trash in return unless a pick is involved).

Funny they are talking about trading picks for coaches (because of the NFL Harbaugh news). SVG was actually traded for some 2nd round pick going from Miami to Orlando.

Great interviewers on that show. They do a good job trolling their guests with question they know the guest can't answer honestly. :) They have a lot of fun with each other.

If Morey wasn't BSing, then it would certainly explain

    A)Why he's still a Rocket. top-5 center even at 15mpg is >>> average player at 30mpg.

    B)Why Asik won't accept a backup role.

Also, if Morey thinks that way, then the Rockets internal metric probably matchup with xRAPM the most in terms of publically available metrics. That is the only stat I know which had Asik as a top-5 center last year(after Gasol, Dwight, Noah, Chandler).

So Morey, what happened at the end of your season? What happened? Why was Parsons running around a simple curl 75 feet behind Damian Lillard? What happened there?

Starting me off right where it hurts, huh? No small talk or anything?

No, let's go Morey. You know how it works around here.

Our guys came out of the huddle, probably our worst moment of the year, we came out of the huddle, our guys decided to switch coverage on the floor, Lillard sensed they were switching things up and took off. Lillard broke off the play. If you watch Batum, if anyone wants to watch youtube, he throws the ball in disgusted because Lillard broke the play off and clapped for the ball and Batum was upset. He threw him the ball because they had no other option because he broke the play off. Lillard catches and hits the shot. Batum goes from walking away mad to elated in a microsecond. It was a bad moment. If we're gonna advance in the playoffs, we can't even be in close games like that and if so, we have to execute better. Disappointing end and we need to improve to get better.

Do you have us blue-tooth or speakerphone?

No, I'm on a regular phone. Why, does it sound bad?

Are you in the bathroom of your office?

I'm actually...we're doing draft interviews. I'm trying to find a place less crowded. Maybe this is better.

You said your guys changed the coverage on the floor. On TV, your guy James Harden changed the coverage. What did you think of his performance in that series?

It wasn't his best series. He played great in that game. Dwight really had a great series. It was disappointing. It was a series we should have won. Portland is a very good team but we should have won that and all of us are disappointed and focused on getting better.

Have you talked to him about the defense?

I think all our players have areas to improve. James can play some good on-ball defense against certain guys.

We know he can. Why doesn't he?

Let's talk about you guys losing Stan Van Gundy.

MOREY, DON'T DO THIS DANCE! True or false, James Harden can guard me(Bomani)?

    He absolutely can guard you.

Why won't he then? All he does is backpedal. He doesn't defend. Why? Whose fault is that?

He had a bunch of good ???. I want to know, are you guys starting negotiations with Jeff Van Gundy?

I've already reached out. Morey, you're doing this dance. Have you ever told a public lie as large as the one you just told on the radio right now?

I did not. Depends on what the definition of is is.

This season a success or failure?

We didn't reach our goals. We went into the year as a team, we talked about that we needed to advance in the playoffs, hopefully deep, to feel like we had a successful year. I would say we definitely came up short of what we were trying to do.

You stuck with Kevin McHale. Are you alarmed and what do you make of the coaches who've had successful campaigns who have gotten fired?

... People focus on certain aspects of the job and certain moments where maybe you could say it could have gone this way or that way when there's a good chance Dwight Howard isn't here without McHale. His ability to manage the team to home court in the West, and I'd say history of our franchise, we get good coaches and keep them. Our owner has only had 4 coaches over his 21 year tenure. He's had great coaches every year. Each one has stayed 4 or more years. Switching coaches often is a good path to failure in the league.

It seems we're also blaming coaches who win a lot of games. When you got a team that is good but think might be better, what do you look at as a GM to make you decide whether or not winning is enough to keep the guy?

Home court in one of the toughest conferences in history of the NBA is pretty darn good. Obviously we came up short in the postseason but we outscored Portland in that series. We obviously didn't get it done. As a team we didn't defend well enough all year and that's a big priority next year.

McHale has no use for your metrics?

He likes the win vs. loss metric. He's big on that one.

I'm surprised that your coach, for sure a guy like you would have a coach who would be all about advanced metrics.

You'd be surprised. He's a little like Stan. Stan pretends he doesn't like that stuff when he's the most analytic coach in the league, along with Jeff. Kevin is a smart guy. Anything that can help Kevin win, he's gonna do.

You Jedi-mind trick him with some of those numbers, don't you?

Kevin is too smart for that. Kevin doesn't need me. Kevin has coached, GM, and played in this league for at least 30 years. He doesn't need me to do much except conduct draft interviews like today.

I thought you would have given the Spurs a much better series.

We were 4-0 against them in the regular season but that's unfair to them. A couple games they had guys resting. They're playing unbelievable ball right now. Watching them, I can't help but feel...I do feel like we would have given them a tougher series but it would have been really really tough in 7 games when they got 4 at their place but it's very disappointing we didn't even get the experience to try and take those guys out. We match up well with them. They have trouble with athletic teams that are talented like us. Both us and OKC gave them trouble. Obviously really really disappointed with how it ended.

True or false: OKC will beat the Spurs.

    True.

True or false: Miami wants OKC to beat the Spurs.

    False.

Really? You think Miami would rather play the Spurs than OKC?

Yeah I do. I think so.

Where you coming up with that from?

Again, I think OKC, to me, especially with certain lineups out there is the toughest out in the league. As well as the Spurs are playing, I fear OKC more with Durant and Westbrook playing at the level they can play at.

I'm surprised they didn't criticize mr. moneyball for his stupid coin-flip remark. It's also a tragic comedy listening to Maury try and defend one of the worst coaches in the league in McFail.

Thought the same thing. He's sticking his head in the sand and singing the tune because he wants to believe it so badly.

    Funniest part, IMO.

And then the topic switched to McHale and I got sad again. :(

It's sad and pathetic. They should have also asked him why the Rockets had TJones even guarding the inbound man instead of helping to guard the players on the court. It's not like inbounds man is going to get the ball back after he passes it in with .9 seconds left. I bet Maury wishes he wasn't such an attention w**** after that interview.

Thanks JR. Wish I can rep you again.

It was already bad enough that Parsons said he is the best SF in the series. I wish Morey hadn't said something like no one on the Blazers can guard Harden. It sure came back and bit him in the ass.

I think Morey means "not those Perkins lineups that Scott Brooks keeps playing for some reason."

Thanks, J.R.! Nothing that really stands out to me, but enjoyed reading what you gave us. Pretty close to comedy. I need all the laughs about the Rockets that I can find right now. Still depressed about how this season ended.

Wow, didn't know Lillard broke the play because it was executed so perfectly. Bunch of balls on that guy to do that.
