After about an hour of reading threads, I haven't picked up any info on the latest status of Don Nelson. Has he re-upped with Dallas? I seem to recall that he has several years as GM, but his term as head coach has run. I'm not particularly hot on Nelson, but he's might be an intreguing possibility. He would certainly bring the offensive creativity that we are rumored to be seeking. He's the polar opposite of JVG.
i think he's on vacation somewhere. He's taking his time on deciding whether to continue coaching for the Mavs because Cuban basically said Nelly can return if he wants.
funny you mention that. I went to the Luby's on Buffalo Spdwy on Sat. for lunch with a buddy of mine and Kenny Hand from 610 am came in and sat at the table right next to us. I asked him who he thought our next coach would be and he said he really liked Don Nelson! He said brown , JVG, and silas were all pretty good, but he really liked Nelson. He also said MARIO ELLIE would be a good coach or assisstant. He liked Mario's (aggressiveness) and passion. He also said Mobes would most likely be traded and the reason we didn't make the playoffs was because of a serious lack of talent. He said we got 2 or 3 good players and a bunch of (talentless) players. I can definitely see that. I know Nelson really likes Yao and might be looking for a new challenge, a new start. I wonder if Kenny was dropping hints...
I've always liked Kenny Hand and the guy is pretty sharp. He's probably just shootin' the breeze, but it's more info. We can't get enough. Thanks, drpepper! I'll go open a cold one.
