The Rockets should sign Jon Barry for MLE. He is a much better backup than Moochie Norris and Juaquin Hawkins. He would be energetic and improve our bench. He's kinda old..but we need veterans. He can also shoot. MLE sounds good. Get Carlisle too.

I like Jon Barry from Sacromento days. Good shooting, good off the bench-clutch type player- works hard. I did not know he was that old though. Still for Cuttino money 4.5mil I would like to have him for 2 to 3 years no more- does this seem reasonalble???

Maybe he is just too old....

Hoops Hype has him as an unrestricted free agent, who made approx 3mil last year and will probably sign for that again. Hes a smart, veteran player who hustles and has skills. He would be a good addition for any team, but especially the Rockets who need this kind of vet leadership. He is a 20 min a game player that Detroit had announced wouldnt be back, but that may change.

I would take Barry in a second. Not only does he play hard at both ends of the court, he understands and accepts his role on the team. And stranegley enough, he somehow seems to get on teams that play well (one of those players that happens to good teams).

Another possibility... Eric Piatkowski (though to be honest, I would favor Barry).

    ZZ,

I completely agree. The big question is, does Brown see him as an asset? I know that they didn't plan on retaining him. But they also probably weren't planning on firing Carlisle.

We should jump on him if Brown doesn't see the need to retain him.

As newrox said, Piatkowski is an interesting option also.

for cheap, 2 millionish, Jon Barry would be great for his energy, hustle, 3 pts shooting and ability to make things happen, my only caution is he sulked during the playoffs when his minutes were reduced and as a result his play was fairly ordinary.

if we got him for cheap and gave him minutes it would certainly be a plus and big upgrade on Mooch.

what about Damon Jones could we land him for cheap to play Mooch's minutes.

Absolutely! Unless Mourning is clawing at our MLE, then I think you go after Barry. We need big (read: tough PF), more than we need small, but Barry would give you every dollar's worth, every night. I love the toughness, and basketball IQ that the guy brings.

p.s. I know Mourning is a Center, but Doc Rocket released a two word statement statement expressing that the Rockets would have interest in Mourning.
