I'll withhold judgement until I see Clowney play in the NFL. Numbers on paper don't mean ish.

Even with his constant injuries, he's averaged 10.7 sacks per 16 games...I don't think saying if healthy he'd have averaged between 12 and 15 is outlandish.

Not outlandish, just a stretch. Saying top 5 rusher is closer to outlandish.

Mario Williams was frustrating. He'd have a three sack game in a blow out loss one week,, and the next week in a one point game with the division on the line he'd have a hangnail and completely disappear.

I know that in the 4th quarter of an important game, with the defense sucking wind, but needing to make a stand to preserve a win, I'd take JJ Watt all day every day over either Clowney or Mario. I'm not entirely sure where Clowney fits on the "Williams/Watt Willpower Index" so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm pretty sure that there aren't many people in the world that are very few people in the world that are as much of a hardass about losing as Watt, and Clowney isn't one of them. That isn't a dig at Clowney, either. But having the physical means to make plays isn't particularly useful if you don't have the willpower to direct it as needed.

So calling someone that was in the top 5 in sacks this last season a 'top 5 pass rusher" is outlandish? I disagree.

I'm expecting him to be better than Mario... Considering he's the best defensive prospect to come out in the past 100 years according to some.

And since he's playing with J.J. he has no excuse not to be.

Mario relied too much on natural talent. If he had more skills, he'd be able to play well even through the injuries that are part of an NFL season. Ultimately he's more physical freak than football player. Clowney supposedly is a great football player who happens to be a physical freak.

We'll see. If Clowney's all that he's cracked up to be, he should be showing signs of it by the 2nd half of this season.

You can tell Clowney has some passion.

This guy knows how to invent points. lol
Didn't say outlandish, said closer to outlandish.

I respect your posts. Just think Clowney being Mario 2.0 is underachieving. Mario was in a worse draft, allegedly, so he somewhat justifies being #1. We'll see what happens.

LOL that's fair, I was just trying to clarify things. I'm just hoping for disruption. If Clowney and Watt can pressure QB's without a blitz having to be sent then the Texans should find themselves in a lot of favorable situations.

We have JJ Watt. Clowney just needs to be the Wade to Watt's Lebron and I will be happy. Sans the bum knee of course.

Just think if Nix balls. Potential one of the greatest all time d-lines ever?!!?

Cushing is another major factor. The defense is completely different with him playing. And a major reason for the collaspes the passed 2 seasons. He won't be 100 first season off his injury, but he's a workout junky. If he can come back 80% this team can ball this year. So glad Pubes is gone.

I just hope that the rest of the NFL figures out Baltimores O this year the way other teams did to us. Shouldn't be difficult unless Kubiak has all of a sudden learned how to make changes. Wait who am I kidding, we all know he hasn't.

Kinda happened last year, Flacco tossed 22 INT's, more than Schaub and Keenum combined.

    Vindication!!! LOL

Big difference is Flacco, though. He's almost completely opposite of Schaub.... clutch, throwing downfield, arm strength, nuts, etc.

Say what you want, but Flacco has been clutch in multiple post-seasons. His defense helped him of course, but gotta give credit where credit is due. Schaub had me hating nationally televised games.. lol.

His combined playoff stats are 55.5% completion percentage 206 yards per game averaging 1 TD and 1 INT per game. That's roughly Chad Henne's career averages. The kid had one magical post-season where his guys happened to come down with his hail mary passes, but he's a fairly poor QB overall.
