Seeing the possibility of the Blazers getting swept gives a lot of us comfort, thats obvious. It got me thinking (especially given that comfort thread someone posted when we lost)...what do you guys think hurts more? 0.9 (from the Rocket fans perspective) or 0-4 (from the Blazer fans perspective) Would ya'll rather have been swept or lost the way we did?
I'd rather be swept. Strangely, I'd feel better if we were blown out and swept, because that just means we weren't better than POR. Losing in 6 with most of them being ultra close games just makes me sad, because we could easy have won the series 4-2.
0.9. Because it exposed our defense and offense. Hopefully, Morey will work on the exposed short coming this off season.
Highly doubt it. We are keeping the coach and we are still chasing the idiotic dream of having 3 stars on our team rather than try to sign/trade solid role players.
If we got swept, it would give Morey more reasons to say, "We need a 3rd star." I don't know if that's good or bad.
It makes me mad when people say how equally balanced and just how good the blazers were against the rockets which is utter nonsense. Im glad the blazers are gonna get swept cos lillard, lma needs to know that they wont go anywhere and about time they come crashing down to earth..corey brewer, babbit from pelicans and not to mention the nuggets and the pelicans beat us without their starting fives and they almost beat us with our starting fives to theirs none...we finished 4-6 the last 10. Kelvin sampson was the guy and not mchale. Even college players would be superstars against mchales no defense team.
Gosh this is a hard question. I'm not happy we got beat by .9 sec. But I also don't want to get squash by the Spurs, because they're also my favorite team. If they crushed us like they did to Blazers it would seriously make my fan life difficult to understand. In hindsight, I think it would've been more embarrassing if we were in the Blazers situation since this team was especially endorsed as a legit contender. You have to consider, Spurs did not just defeat Blazers, they basically pummeled them in the offense, defense, and rebound department. It's utterly humiliating if Rockets were lead by 29 points in first round. If you got Harden and Howard and you got beat by 29 points? That is not a favorable situation. Blazers only had Damian and Aldridge to basically tide their boat, and Damian's a rookie in playoffs, he only made a name now. Dwight and Harden with Asik, and the more favorable bench they have, can you just imagine the backlash? So yes, in a way, getting beaten in first round is better than getting pummeled at the second one. I'm still not thanking the Blazers for making that 3 though. But seriously, if Blazers got out coach and outnumbered by Spurs players, what would've happen to us with Pop holding the reigns and Mchale, being his less than playoffs material self?
Without question — 0.9 Getting swept in a series simply indicates you lost to the better team. Losing the way the Rockets did is hard to swallow, especially when you feel that the better team lost the series. BUT, in both cases, it is what it is.
Sampson was here when the Rox made crucial mistakes against the Lakers, Sixers, and Kings early in the season.
If we're going to lose in the 1st Round, I think it would have been better to be blown out and swept in the series 4-0. Just by winning 2 games, it gives Morey and Les a reason to think that this team only needs a few minor tweaks in personnel and management. No, this team needs a massive overhaul in coaching and offensive and defensive philosophy. Switching an assistant coaching chairs, and bringing in another big name FA player isn't going to make this team tough defensively. Just like bringing in Dwight hasn't made it harder to score on us.
.9 because we need to face the music and realize the team has incredible flaws for postseason and crunch time. too many issues.
Definitely 0.9 hurt more as it was a close game that could have gone our way. 0-4 means you are absolutely outclassed and you should feel lucky to get this far. Therefore Trailblazers should be content about getting swept, they are just not good enough yet. Rockets should be pissed that they wasted their chance away to a easily beatable team.
