Maybe it's just me, but it seems since Taylor has picked up his scoring AND rebounding game the Rockets continue to lose. I wonder what the connection is?

Mo=No Defense That's the problem. He'll blossom on offense and the boards but he gets punked by opposing forwards night in and night out.

    ------------------
Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!

The connection is that in the past six games, the Rockets have played the Spurs twice, the Lakers and the Sonics. Not exactly the weakest teams in the league. In addition, they have been without Francis for two full games plus the fourth quarter against SA and Mobley for 1 full game and the fourth quarter against the Spurs as well.

The Rockets are just not that good against the really good teams in the west but not many teams are, especially not the really young one's like the Rockets.

Maybe because Cat and Francis are dinged up, it means more chances for Mo to shoot.

Mo improvement + Francis inj + Mobes inj = 6 losses and counting.

Mo improvement + healthy Francis and Mobes = ?

    I posted this in the <a href="http://www.clutchcity.net/game.cfm?gameID=110">game recap</a>:

Mo, in 30 minutes of PT, put up 20 points on 9-13 shooting and 11 boards. The big guy in <a href="http://www.clutchcity.net/playerinfo_current.cfm?PlayerID=201">his last 7 games</a> is averaging 17 points on 62.2% shooting (56-90) and 8.5 boards.... problem is the Rockets are 1-6 during that span.

get real!!! cat and wink are both playing hurt. an ankle and an elbow are the worst injuries for a basketball player to play through. we've been losing 'cause our leading scorers are hurt, and the heart of our team(wink) hasn't been there 100% to lead us. wait till we are all healthy and mo continues to tear sh*t up!!

    Rockets R'Us,

Could you tell us which opposing PFs have "punked" Mo? No one has done anything much against us in this recent 6 game slide except for McDyess, Duncan, and Jamison, 3 of the best PF's in the game. If you consider those games as the opposing forward "punking" Mo I guess every player in the NBA must get punked, cause they got what their average is pretty much.

One way or another, you guys still find a way to blame Mo. He has been the ONLY positive during this horrific dry spell. If Francis and Mobley could step up, this team would be unstopable. But the two "franchise" players continue to stink up the joint.

It is not because Francis and Mobley have been hurt! You can say that for the GS game (even though we should have won it), but nothing more! The 'deal' is that people have this illusion that the Rockets have to have this huge inside force to win. This is false! Mo is a great player, whether the Rockets use him right or not. The fact is, it's all about chemistry. Adding a significant player like Mo will throw off your chemistry--bottom line (look at Orlando -- McGrady's averaging 26 a game, and the team's worse off!). Mo is an amazing player, and the Rockets are lucky to have him. The Rockets losing has nothing to do with Mo -- just like I said that Mo putting up nothing didn't matter because the Rocets were 13-9. Come back when you have some patience and perspective. This team is young! Go root for the Lakers if you don't like it!

I'm not blaming anything on injuries or Mo. I just think it sucks that we are FINALLY seeing the Taylor we had hoped for but we are going through this horrible losing streak at the same time.

Mo T is playing awesome offensive ball right now, it'd just be nice if he got to play more . . . Rudy seems to hold him out way too long. If Mo plays more, we may have a better chance of winning some of these games . . .

ABSOLUTELY!! The Rockets are just going through growing pains right now, trying to figure out how to work Mo into the offense. We are watching a team that is trying to find its identity, which I think will eventually gravitate to that of a more motion-based offense VS. iso-based. The components are in place, it's just a matter of execution.

If Mo is playing well, why not play him more then 30 minutes a game ?

gr8-1: Mo only got like 10 minutes in the first half due to foul trouble.

I was actually thinking about posting a topic like this, but look at the stats
    http://www.nba.com/playerfile/split/maurice_taylor.html

It doesn't cover the last 2 games, but it's a 25 game sample. Over the season, Mo has averaged 12.3-4.6 in wins, while 10.6-5.2 in losses. I think the rebound number is due to Mo's improved rebounding this season, and it just happens his big improvement happens on a 6 game losing streak.

The losing streak has to do with injuries and tough competition not Mo Taylor being out. A quick way to check on whether his contributions have been positive or negative is to check the efficiency of his stats. What kind of FG% is Mo averaging? How many shots does it require him to make his points?

Over the last 7 games, Mo has only needed 12.8 shot attempts per game to get his 17 PPG and has averaged 62% from the field which is an incredible stat. All he needs right now is to avoid the early foul trouble he gets into sometimes ie last night and then he can play more mins. In time, this shot attempt total should go up imho as he continues to show this type of game over a stretch of time. I'd like to see him getting 16-17 shot attempts as this offense evolves.

I don't know if I would blame Orlando's woes on McGrady...the fact that Grant Hill only played 4 games and is out the rest of the season may have something to do with that.

I will say this: NBC was certainly on McGrady's jock on Christmas Day.
