As I read the BBS, and I see that there are a lot of varying, passionate opinions on who should or should not be coach, I'm personally just going to go with the philosophy here that whoever we get, I'm going to wish them well and support the team as always. A primary thing that I hope for is that we can be very fortunate in having another long-tenured coach. I think we were very fortunate in having Rudy T. and staff here for so long because, even if you disagreed with their schemes or philosophies, they gave our team (and town) a sense of identity for so long. For some of the casual fans, and I tend to know some of them, they may not have known who a lot of coaches were, but they knew that Rudy T. was the coach of The Rockets. So, I hope we can experience something like that once more, along with the same successful moments as well. Also, and I'm not exactly sure on how this goes, but I was wondering, for example, if our next coach ended up being a short-term bandage, so to speak, and we ended up having to look for another coach, could the Chinese government get angry and call for Yao to be traded to a more stable (with, of course, stable being a loose term nowadays) coaching situation (one that would allow for his skills to grow in a more even, consistent basis, in the NBA)? Finally, and I just had to get this in, but I really think that two of the most outrageous "releases" via coaches have been Mr. Silas and Mr. Carlisle. I'd definitely be happy with either of them because both have shown a knack for being able to get the best out of young players. When I read the BBS, sometimes, it seems as if people lose focus of the fact that you don't have to be hated to be respected. Therefore, amongst coaching circles, with Silas and Carlisle being "soft spoken" via the media, that doesn't mean that players don't talk to one another about who they respect and play hard for. Now, I know, players should play hard for any coach, yet, just think, there are some people who don't work as hard for certain bosses as they do others. So, just because someone has the label of "players coach" doesn't mean they can't get the job done. In fact, and I got this sense when the whole Rudy T. situation happened, a lot of players felt down on themselves because they knew that they didn't come through for coach as they should have. So, let us just watch this and see if this is the start of personal, internal vendettas, that they want to rectify for their next coach. Thanks For The Time
Thank you very much SLA and couch_pot8o for the kind words and the warm welcome to the BBS. Thank you as well kidrock8 for posting on my thread. To add some additional thoughts here, being that, as it stands, we do have to take that which ESPN (along with some other sources) reports as "rumors" nowadays, I have to agree with the thought that, until some of these coaches have actually signed contracts, as well as hold press conferences, then I will not believe for sure that they are out of the potential hiring range. I will say this though, speaking of a name I mentioned previously, if it is true that Mr. Silas is going to Cleveland, that's a major score for that franchise. In my opinion, if this happens to be so, I think he'd be an excellent area of guidance for the incoming career of Lebron James. If James has the game that many state that he has, I believe that Silas will get a quality effort out of him. Also, don't be surprised if you see guys, such as Ricky Davis, flourish under Silas. Lastly, as a fan, I have to agree, the suspense is getting to me, I'd like for us to go ahead and sign our coach of the future. I'm starting to wonder which will I see first: a signed head coach or the unveiling of our new uniforms? Well, nevertheless though, being that, as fans, we love the game, but to executives, it's a business. So, I can understand the fact that they may be taking their time, in hopes of finding a long-term coach. It can be easy to just sign-up a big name, but the problem is, will that big name be dedicated enough to stay with us for the long haul, or will they eventually resign, take a TV job, and then get another coaching job in a year or two?
