I agree. He was easily the most amiable member of the Rockets staff. Very smart, very funny guy. It's crazy the way things are going. The team has a different feel now.

    Those horrible Rudy T assistants...

Looks like the great Eric Musselman is pretty fond of at least one of them:

Rockets assistant Boylen takes job with Warriors

Jim Boylen became the first member of Rudy Tomjanovich's coaching staff to land another position when he completed a deal to become an assistant coach with the Warriors on Friday, one week after Tomjanovich stepped down as Rockets coach.

Boylen had been with the Rockets 11 seasons, four as a video coordinator and the past seven as an assistant coach.

"I've very thankful for my 11 years," Boylen said. "Les (Alexander, Rockets owner) took good care of me. Les and Carroll (Dawson) and Rudy were such a big part of my development as a coach. This has been a great place for me. I had a chance to do a lot and learn a lot.

"It's nice to be wanted. They pursued me. That's important. I was just sitting on my couch last Friday during the Rudy T press conference, the phone rang and it was (Warriors coach) Eric Musselman."

Boylen, a former Michigan State assistant, had turned down an offer from his former roommate, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, to become an associate head coach with the Spartans.

"It's nice to get a job that quick," Boylen said. "It's a great place for me. I'm really excited about it. But it's tough, too. You're at a place 11 years, your heart is in it. It's been an emotional roller coaster to say the least. But I'm a coach. I want to coach. And this will be a great place to do it. It's a great job."

come on, TheFreak, Rudy T was an idiot, and everyone knows it.

he was like King Midas, but instead of everything he touched turning to gold, every assistant that he had turned to suck.

even playing the game of Scrabble will be easier now that he's out of the way.

    everyone knows this already.

in Jeff Van Gundy's name we pray, amen.

Jim Boylen is a good assistant coach, I would like to have been able to keep him. He had offers from Tom Izzo, GS and supposely Dallas to join their staffs.

Musselman is fairly well respected around the league, for the job he's done with Golden State this past year.

I get the feeling that you have a very difficult time letting go of the past Freak.

Did anyone see his hair-do before the end of the season? He had it shaved around the very top/middle of his head so it appears to be a little "island" patch of hair closer to his forehead. Wish I could find a picture..

    Strange looking.

Sorry for the duplication. I could've sworn the Chron article was dated late 5/31, and I hadn't seen any other threads yet.

Funny how everyone is up Mussleman's ass for what he did at GS this year, and now he wants one of Rudy's HORRIBLE assistants to help him out. Gotta love it.

Why has it worked in Dallas?

Is it possible that the tone is set by the owner and his minions follow?

Is it possibly serendipitous, due to chemistry of staff?

I suspect the former. That includes the Cuban statements that Donnie is next in line but Dull Harris is #1 assistant.
