This sucks. I want this to be over. I hate coaching carousels. Pick someone - anyone so we can get on with our lives. We have analyzed the pros and cons of every candidate to death. If the Rockets don't play their cards right they could be left out of the game. The class acts are lining up to land. What if our runway comes up empty? Then what? I can see it now. "Rudy T. hired as the new Rocket's coach, terms of new contract revealed."
This is the best coaching position in the NBA at the moment. We have the best product. If it doesn't sell, blame the marketing team.
Great thread idea... It sucks that all of these coaches are, at best, equally as good as Rudy in the coaching department. Notice how the majority of these coaches benefit from coaching in the Eastern Conference? I miss Rudy.
I think they must have thought they made the sale until Detroit fired their coach. No one could have planned for that. I really can't blame the Rockets since an offer was made and the ball was in Brown's court. They did what any org would do...continue searching.

If Brown chooses Detroit because he just wants to be there then so be it. However, I don't want to see Brown choose Detroit because THEY out bid us for Brown. This is NOT the time for Les to be pinching pennies. If he wants to make a BIG splash in getting his man he better put up the money to back it up. New arena, Yao, Francis...the time is now Les. Just wondering, is anyone regretting "wishing" Rudy T away now? (just for the record, I never once said i wanted him gone!)
Rudy T loved the Rockets and wanted to be here. I get the feeling that Brown, Van Gundy and the others are more like opportunists looking for the last dollar.
