Why has the NBA came said anything about the clock not starting on time

This may not be far off considering they have cameras that can track how much a player runs in any given game. Maybe some sort of chip inside the ball where it can start the clock once it feels the impact of the players hands.

But yeah, until then, human reaction time is part of the game. I'm sure at some point it has also worked in our favor.

If thats so, do you seriously expect the clock to start exactly on time...down to the last 0.1 second?!

If the NBA apologizing about the clock starting 0.4 seconds late makes you feel better, then Lillards shot has really gotten inside your head lol

 

1. The clock only seems late watching the play in slow motion. If you watch the play in real time, you'll see the time lag was minimal.

2. When there was 0.9 sec. remaining, the next tick down could take up to a full tenth of a second after the clock is restarted, depending on when the clock was previously stopped. The first tick down does NOT occur immediately.

3. Lillard got the shot off quick enough to where the red light came on when the ball was already on its way down. The time between the ball leaving Lillard's hand and the red light turning on was unquestionably longer than the time between when he first touched the ball and the clock's first tick down.

4. Right after the shot was made, there was zero suspicion from the broadcasters regarding a delay in the clock, and nobody from the Rockets' bench questioned the clock operation. It was only stunned disbelief.

 

Why haven't anyone that complain about the clock starting late, show conclusively that the shot took more than 0.9 sec?

Because they can't. Because he did shoot it on time even if clocks started on time.

Unless you can prove otherwise, move on.

Isn't the precedent for a catch and shoot 0.7 seconds? As long as he shot immediately it wasn't going to be disqualified.

It sucks a lot and it hurts, but the Blazers won that game fair and square.

 

I think we're just sensitive to this issue because many of us remember this:

And, as much as I dislike the guy, he did get it off in time.

 

.3 seconds went off the clock between the time he caught it and the time the clock started. There was .5 left when it was completely out of his hands. So it only took him .7 to catch and shoot. I think a .3 second human reaction time is pretty damn good.

 

doesn't matter. it's a human operating that clicker and all he did was catch, turn, and shoot which even at 0.4s is good. let it go. it's not like he did a couple of chandler pumps

 

not really... it would have only guaranteed game 7, which is really a helluva thing to miss.

You know, I'm pretty surprised how a lot of members here are laying down about this Rockets series, as if we deserved to lose.

We were .9 seconds away from being at home for game 7.

Aldridge had game of his life game 1, would have won game 1 but LMA gets offensive put back at last second. Rockets went into halftime with disadvantage at free throws - 17-0!! Incredible and unheard of. "We weren't aggressive enough" but we had 10 more points in the paint then POR did. End of the game, refs blow call against Dwight.

Let's not forget Lin's mistake at the end of game 4, we would have tied the series 2-2. Oh, and Mo Williams got away with stepping out of bounds.

Not to mention you couldn't breathe on LMA without him getting FTs.
