Miami also sat their 2nd best player for a third of the season and clearly was coasting in the last couple months. It's reminiscent of the Bulls in their first three-peat. Chicago went 67-15 when they won their 2nd title. The following year they went only 57-25 as age and fatigue slowed them down(at least til the playoffs). Last year, Miami went 66-16. This year age and fatigue caused them to drop to 54-28. Yet here they are in the playoffs turning it on as usual. And unlike that Bulls team, there's no New York Knicks standing in their way to the NBA Finals.
What did Danny Ainge or Pat Riley do over the past year that was bigger than bringing in Dwight Howard?
My order would be Ryan McDonough, Suns +23 Masai Ujiri, Toronto +14 Neil Olshey, Blazers +21 -------(after this they're all pretty close and pretty interchangeable) Rod Higgins, Bobcats +22 Daryl Morey, Rockets +9 Doc Rivers(??), LAC +1 (not much of a change, but getting Rivers & deeper team is a lot) Ernie Grunfield, Wizards +15 Bob Myers, GSW +4 I dont think Spurs, Heat, and Thunder should even be up here. Pacers either I think. ATL might be up here but we don't know since Horford got injured. Nets ended up with a worse record after an awful start. lol boston. maybe next season
Why do people keep bringing up Lin and Asik that didn't even happen this season What exactly did Pat Riley, Buford do this specific season anyway. This award is based on random to no critieria every season. Spurs were title contenders last year, the front office did nothing but sign bellineli and they are still title contenders this year, therefore Buford wins LOL
Well deserved after not firing the glaring incompetent coach and wasted first round draft on Royce White, and another first round exit after acquiring best center in the league.
Anyone think another factor in the 9th place finish was how Lowry and Dragic were having All-Star caliber seasons after Morey let them both go?
The East being so weak really skews things. Also, defending champs tend to save their energy for the regular season (which, btw, makes it impressive that the Spurs won so many games while resting their best players a ton).
If people think that a guy that wants to bring McHale back and set the team up for failure again should win such an award... I don't even know what to say.
Morey placing 9th in this "vote' for Executive of the Year is absurd. So absurd that when Daryl does win Executive of the Year, I won't be impressed.
Actually I'm pretty sure Presti went to Philly before the Dwight Howrard signing. Regardless, the Rockets have had $0 capspace since signing Howard and giving the rest of their miniscule capspace to Cannan's rookie contract. Not sure how they can be good under those circumstances.
I understand Masai Ujiri being above Morey but how are the others even considered? Compared to Morey they haven't done ****
