    1. His only achievement as head coach is: one visit to 2nd round in the Big Easy.

    2. Not young. Already in his 60s, with only a few years coaching experience in the East and three losing seasons in the west 20 yrs ago.

    3. Not a big name. It will be difficult for SF, YM and other players to accept him.

    4. Personailty. Actually, I think this is why he got fired in Hornets and is nobody's top candidate even he is the first one available.

IMO, I think it would be ironic if Les hires Silas, since Les claims he likes big name.

    Please add.

    Good points.

    I'd like him though. :)

    Hmm...he's old.

    That's all.

    He's kinda like Rudy.

    Nice guy. I'd love him.

Silas was not given an extension because Shinn is cheap. That is the ONLY reason. Just ask the people of Charlotte about Shinn.

Silas had horrible things (death, poor ownership) happen to his team in Charlotte/New Orleans. If nothing else, he was able to get a super athletic PG to be an all around player: I think we could do worse & it's kind of sounding like Larry Brown might be out of the picture.....I like Silas better then VanGundy, but that's just my opinion: I don't know whether or not one is better then the other.....

Death? I am assuming you are talking about Bobby Phills. He died when Dave Cowens was coaching which was about 5 years ago.

Edit - My bad. Phills died in January of 2000 and Silas took over in March of 1999. I thought Phills had died in 98.

He died the Same year that Dave Cowens Left but Silas had Already Taken Over.

And In my Opinion Silas Is the Best Option We have.

Sila would be a great chioice for the Rockets. He has a cool head. He is under rated for basketball savvy. He did overcome great hardship and injury with an owner in a horse race with Donald Sterling to be biggest jerk in the NBA...

He made the best of a very difficult situation...

I'm not for Silas, but heck at least he has said he wants the Job. What is up with Brown and Gundy, make your mind up.

Silas is 58 which is still 4 years younger than Larry Brown.

If it weren't for cheapskate owner Shinn he should still be coaching the Hornets.

This has to be crazy. I want to see another coach lose his leading scorer for 40 games and in the playoffs and still make it to the 2nd rd. I want to see another coach lose their best player, and not have a backup and still win 47 games. I want to see a coach lose the leading scorer 1 game and the best player another in the playoffs and still manage to win playoff games. Silas is a underrrated coach that Francis and Ming would respect and listen to. Look at how Davis and even Magloire has flourished under him. No one ever thought Mashburn was a all star , but look what happened this yr. He's had his best 3yrs of his career under Silas. I don't know where you get your information from.

This may be true, but remember that Silas coached in the East. No way in hell he could duplicate those feats in the Western conference. Having said that, though, I think Silas is underrated, but still not as good as either Brown or Van Gundy.

Apparently he coached us in the 80's according to NBA.com:

    CAREER COACHING

    1980 Houston 36 46
    1981 Houston 17 65
    1982 Houston 25 57

    Someone clear this up

Isn't Silas one of these players coaches that all the players love?

Geez, if he is, then there was no purpose of getting rid of Rudy if we hire him.
