Let's start our own rebel thread. That other one is already too long.

So how do you get hired by a team that has just fired its coach only a few hours ago? Were Dumars and Brown already talking about the possibility?

Also, I wonder if Les is really disappointed. If Larry Brown was still #1 on the list he has to feel pretty bad about this.

i posted this in the other huge thread, but it should probably be in a fresher thread...

It's not a done deal yet:

(From espn.com): ESPN has learned that, despite reports Larry Brown will take the job, a deal isn't done yet.

AP sure has jumped the gun on all of these coaching changes! i wonder what the real story is!

I know the deal isn't done yet but that doesn't make me feel any better about this. It still appears the Piston's are further down the road to hiring Brown than Houston is. This is disappointing. Especially considering the time in which we had to sell our organization. But I question if Brown was ever really serious with his interest in Houston. All you heard was the Clippers. Now after Detroit bounced their coach its all Pistons. Somehow I feel Houston was never in the Brown sweepstakes to begin with. I guess we'll have to wait and see now.

espn sucks. sure they break alot of news, but i guess its no good when you publish alot of false "reports" for the sake of being #1

I still feel sorry for Carlisle. The guy got screwed by the Pistons.

Well, just because the principal parties say a deal is not done, doesn't mean it isn't. If Brown's trying to save face for Les and CD here, it doesn't mean much to me.
And that's what could be happening - someone leaked the story when it was understood to be kept quiet.
I wanted Brown, but I'm sure he's gone. And truthfully to a better team and situation.
I'm not sure Dumars has helped himself, but he's surely screwed us.

Only time will tell. This "source" hasn't been confirmed yet.
