May 6th is officially KD day now: http://newsok.com/oklahoma-city-thu...claims-may-6-kevin-durant-day/article/4746757
Hard work pays off! ... unless you have Tony Allen guarding you. Then it was all for nothing. Jokes KD congrats!
Dont u get it? KD should not be elevated above any other hard working American. He is strong, humble and interested at bettering his craft. But his god given ability, his natural strengths, are more financially pruit and worshipped by youngsters as a result. I say look to the lord, find your strength in him like KD did, and go about bettering yourself instead of living through others. not going to 'pologize for sayin how I feel on this matter
Okay, I just watched the whole thing and I'm gonna need to invoke my girl pass here. The feels, they have overtaken me. I want this guy to win. Ugh.
No, I don't get it. Who was worshipping him? The post you responded to simply said, "That speech, man" -- and you went off on a tangent about how it was no big deal for people to believe in him because he's tall and talented. It sounds to me like the guy was raised by a young single mom in pretty unfavorable circumstances, has achieved more than what society would expect for someone of his background, and is grateful to his family/friends/teammates for encouraging him and believing in him along the way. And people are celebrating his success. I'm not sure how you interpret celebrating what he has achieved as worshipping him instead of God, or living through him. It's not that serious.
it obviously means a lot to him (teammates, coaches who are paid to believe in a top 2 pick who is tall and talented), and that's all that matters. i respect strong mothers and have no issues with that part, the part before he was 15. it was a very touching, honest speech but it could have been cut in half. know that not everyone is so god gifted and act clueless about it like a diva. i know it's not a classy viewpoint and people will think it's **hatin'*** for having an opinion, but agree to disagree.
He's probably channeling this and who knows what else <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/gQZahU_1cQo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Tons of guys with height & talent don't make it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/u4Crq6-fYF8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Wow sugarland. The elitist hate constantly spewed by you on an online forum is incredible. Spoiler Who is THEY? What makes you any different? Why am I not the same as KD in my field of expertise? Spoiler Please fellas... the celeb worshipping has to stop. I notice alot of insecure youngsters constantly dropping names like "I went to such and such party, and KEVIN DURANT WAS THERE" like it increases their value. well, once you start dating, you'll start to see what really makes the man. Spoiler Sometimes its worth it to engage in a discussion on certain views, but your assumption that a 6'9" guy who was great highschool/college basketball was gonna make it in the NBA is just plain ignorant. There are so many that may have the talent that fail at achieving their dreams. As he sat in that unfurnished apartment that his mother purchased, he stated "we thought we made it!" Throughout the insanity in his life, he had people to keep him grounded and was taking time to appreciate all the little things in life that most people may ignore. Kevin Durant isnt being worshiped; but rather he is showing why he is worthy of being an MVP of this league...His speech was moving, emotional, and spoken from the heart. It is his moment on a stage, and he can take all the time he wants to appreciate people in his life that helped him get to where he is now: the 2014 Most Valuable Player. When I stated that you just dont get it...please keep reading this post and perhaps it may just sink in...if not put your head against the screen...perhaps osmosis may work.
Did Lebron throw his teammates under the bus?: It was announced yesterday that Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant won the 2013-14 NBA Most Valuable Player award. The only other contender really for the award was Miami Heat superstar LeBron James, who has won the award in four of the previous five seasons. James congratulated Durant and then addressed why he didn’t win the honor, and said that despite him playing well enough the team didn’t. “I think I played well enough to win it, but I don’t think our team played well enough to win it,” James said, via Ethan J. Skolnick of Bleacher Report. ”We had too many up and down stretches throughout the season, and if my team’s not winning, then I shouldn’t be the MVP.” http://fansided.com/2014/05/07/lebron-james-throws-heat-bus-mvp-award/#!Kief2
Uh, no. fansided is a real crap site. Maybe we can ban referencing it? Seriously, they just don't report the facts of a story at all.
Congrats to KD. Now let's sign Thabo and Deng this summer so we can have a chance at getting past Durant and OKC next season. Forget the next superstar until 2015.. Signing Thabo, Deng and Battier = 2015 championship.
