Let Tony Parker not run the play Pop calls........... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/aXLxoGr7xOk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
1. The videos do not necessarily show what OP claims 2. If what OP claims is true, Lin is more to blame than Harden.
Man I love Harden, but I have grown more and more tired of his antics. NO hustle or D and to disregard the play called. I know this is a knee jerk thought, but right now I would be willing to trade him for another star.
Please let us know what play was called that Harden disregarded. For all we know, McHale told Lin to throw the ball to Harden.
I really don't care what was called to be honest. And I'm not here to bash Harden cause as I said I really love the guy, but his style of play will win us a lot of regular season games but won't do nothing in the playoffs. He has to do more (play D, hustle, be the leader the team can follow) when his shot is not falling. If not he is useless on the court.
The more intelligent posters should learn what words to use to accurately describe what transpired. Again, please tell me what McHale said to Lin. The OP said Harden demanded the ball, yet the video doesn't show that. Again, if McHale told Lin to run a play and McHale seemed displeased after Lin threw the ball to Harden in the back court, wouldn't that be Lin's fault since he did not appear to do whatever McHale instructed him to do? Kind of like the time in the series that McHale told the team to call a timeout after a rebound and Lin elected to disregard that?
Then you should not reference that one play where the OP (and others) assume to know exactly what McHale instructed Lin to do.
I wasn't referencing that one play. I have seen numerous times that it seems he does his own thing. Heck I didn't even watch it.....out'
I apologize for the mischaracterization. I was going off the fact that you posted in this thread and referenced disregarding the play as singular.
I'm being really serious and in all honesty...If Mchale cant reign in Harden...either fire him, or get rid of Harden...Harden should feel the sting and hurt...While I am very proud of how the regular season went, the Rockets massively underachieved in the playoffs. That falls on the stars...Howard did his part, Harden didnt! Something else to point out. After the end of the first half, he was interviewed and said that he was taking the same shots he did in games 1-5, but things were falling in game 6. I disagree with that statement completely...What we saw in game 6 was a Harden who was engaged offensively and contributed defensively with 4 steals...That is a player who is focused...The garbage we saw in games 1-5 was a player not doing things to help his team win..Howard wasn't scoring a ton of points, but he did things to help win games...Rebound, block shots, and guard the opposing teams best player. Harden must check his ego, or we could have Carmelo 2.0 in Houston and I really dont want that here. It isnt winning basketball. This loss and the way they lost should be the wake up call Harden needs to get better as a leader and not just a scorer. The team needs Harden and Howard's leadership ability and scoring prowess to be a true contender...Adding another piece to this recipe is fine, but everyone has to buy into the system and respect the coach. Or crushing losses like this takes a toll on the career of a young athlete, and their will to win and desire to be successful is all but erased. And as others have posted..Cant try this ish under JVG...your a$$ will be parked on the bench.
No problem. I just don't get on here and argue over what I feel are what someone else feels. We all have our own opinions and see things differently than others. I've seen enough of Harden the last two years to believe sometimes he goes against the grain and I actually wanted to start a thread with my displeasure of his play or lack there of, but I try to stay away from the negativity (knee jerk, upset). He is the star and has to lead by example on both ends or we are not winning anything.
OP if you watched McHales press conference, he wanted Parsons on Lillard. Harden was telling them to switch and they didn't. He threw everyone under the bus but told the press that it was his decision to have parsons on lillard and not Beverley.
^ so although he did neglect the play, there are times McHale makes STUPID decisions and Harden takes it in his hands to fix those. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Doesn't mean he was spoiled by the team or had too large of a part. He's the captain. It's what captains do.
