If WCF were not the expectation of this team, then why did Dwight Howard came here? He said the goal this year was to win championship and Rockets even said that's the goal this year.
Actually when I "just read the threads" I get mostly rational opinions on McHale because I've blocked you and the rest of the Lin apologists. I expected this was a response to my comment. Make a public poll and see what the vote looks like from pre-2012 users (yes I know my vote wouldn't be included). I don't think he's the greatest coach but he definitely doesn't suck. If we were to fire him we'd better have someone in line to replace him.
Every team says their goal is to win a championship. Its Morey's job to determine if that's realistic or not. It wasn't, so we didn't make the Courtney Lee/Bass trade....that simple. Remember Morey saying he would make certain moves to improve the team now if he thought they would put the team in a position to win now? None of those moves materialized....what does that tell you about what Morey thinks this team as constructed could accomplish? A hint....not much more than they did. He's waiting for Love or Melo.
You could replace him with a sticky notepad with various "play harder" "get an open shot" "iso harden" remarks scribbled liberally on each page... McHale is incompetent... which is impossible to not improve on...
Do you think Morey or Les are so stupid that they would retain an incompetent coach? One is a billionaire that has won championships before...the other an MIT grad that helped build the Celtics most recent championship team.
What? Huh? I'm confused. Lin fans? I think most of the people here are happy with Lin being the bench player (if he can't be traded), and still want a more competent coach in charge. Poor tactics, poor coaching, poor adjustments, poor rotations are perhaps some of Mchale's flaws. If a team this loaded can't improve in terms of results since last season, coach's gotta go man. Yea, and the racial bias thing.. Wtf are you talking about?
They need to realise the fire Mchale thread wasn't started by a LOF, and it was started when Lin wasn't a Rocket.
McHale must have some banned-for-life dirt on the Rockets. I can't think of any other explaination for this.
BWAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!! ROFLMFAO!!! WAY TO THROW AWAY YOUR CHANCE AT WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP! May as well keep that faux star Harden. HaHaHaHaHaaaaa!
There are so many good head coaching candidates available. I don't know why there should be any long-term attachment to McHale. What we saw in the playoffs was an extension of how he managed the regular season. He has no vision and doesn't have good coaching instincts. From his failure to integrate Asik, to his prioritization of Beverley over Lin, to his preference for using forwards to guard quicker guards, to his failure to motivate Harden to be a better two-way player, McHale was simply about several key fundamental issues.
Is this like asking can a nobel peace prize winner commit murder when you find him over the top of a dead person with the murder weapon in his hand and blood all over him?
My only consolation is that McHale may return as head coach, but he may not finish as head coach. We won't get out of the first round with him, a team can not be outcoached this badly and win in the postseason. But my worst nightmare is that we win a round and McHale is brought back again by doing the bare minimum. I'm getting Kubiak flashbacks. Shame we are gonna give away another season. Dwight will already be 30 when the 2016 playoffs come around. This is also starting to really kill my sky-high opinion of Morey, I still never question is player moves, but he seems to be of the opinion that coaching doesn't matter and that is a major problem.
They have play maker coaches, Milk head or whatever he's called says "I don't know what to do." (referring to defending LMA). He must of contacted Sampson for some help.
it is so frustrating but what can Rockets fans do. Mchale and Morey are probably laughing at us and say so what.
Warriors had a great series with Clippers without their starting center yet Mark Jackson is gone. Rockets won 2 games against the best team in the west last season, but won the same number of games with Howard and home court advantage this season. smh.
So the absolute worst decision that the Rockets could have made this offseason they rush to make before the offseason has even started. Good job! Unless we get another allstar in the offseason, I don't see how next season could play out any differently.
There seems to be the idea that good teams avoid close games, I'm not sure how much he really buys into it, but you'd need to look no further than the Spurs. No team avoided close games better than them in the regular season, but how's that worked out for them in a 1v8 playoff matchup? Late game execution, game after game after game, and may well be the story tomorrow.
