Does he really have the respect of the players? Based on all his postgame interviews, they sure seem to ignore his instructions an awful lot. I think they like him because he doesn't ever hold them accountable.

Consider the personalities of Dwight, Harden and Parsons... What are they like outside of basketball...? The things they say before games and after games... especially on the subject of the game... ? You'll get a good idea why McHale is so liked by this trio...
The 99-00 Francis era roster LOVED Rudy T... couldn't have been happier with him... They didn't start playing competent, disciplined and organized basketball until JVG got here... And one of our roster's corner stone's revealed his true non-flexible colors..
We had a super young squad! McHale was super frustrating at times but so was Harden Parsons and Lin... Howard was super consistent and I credit the Dream and McHale for that! I really want us to make some moves this offseason we really need a PF a veteran who can board... And some veteran bench help! I really want to sign Thabo from OKC and Blair from Dallas both are unrestricted FA
I don't believe it until it happens. I've always thought he was a placeholder coach. I hope I'm not wrong.
It took years before McNair finally held his coach accountable, and now we see the problem has jumped from the Texans to the Rockets. No accountability.
