Or he's telling the truth and his friend is lying.
Or his friend is telling the truth but whoever told his friend is lying.
    And so on.

I don't understand how TJ Ford would be privy to conversations about trade talks over the #5 draft pick.

No...I dealt with the altenate possibilities in the rest of my post. The first line was just about how we respond to this particular poster.

Perhaps Ford's agent is aware of this talk through the "grapevine" and let him in on it?

Is everyone overlooking the fact that they're all plannign on moving to Miami. Meaning, 95% chance he'll be in Miami. <5% chance he'll be here, regardless of whether the rumor is true.

If there is any truth it's the relative trade value (with Miami).

    Cato - no trade value
EG - still has trade value
Cat - some trade value. Not enough.

TJ is nice, but geez, that's a problem backcourt on D. Kittles and Kidd aren't making any all-defense team either, though. Besides, I think Toronto has first shot at TJ. I'd rather make a deal with Toronto than Miami.

Hey I beleive you man. I used to rap with Tim Ford and I played with TJ at Drew League when we were younger and about that party oh yes I was there. I live in Crosby/Barrett Station so I know TJ's family well and his dad told ny dad that BIG THINGS WERE GONNA HAPPEN! and that ROCKETS really are trying to move Mobley and Cato but said Miami wants to move Eddie Jones first before they bring in Cat, and he said that a insider for the rockets is having negoitons with miami, but nothing was gonna be finalizied until after Toronto pick (4) because they might go after TJ.

Now thats the truth so yes I consider that a source. and please don't tell me that TJ dont know whats going on because this whole league is CROOKED so things get linked out. I think we should call TORONTO: MOBLEY/GRIFFIN for #5 pick and A.DAVIS:D :D

Why the hell would Toronto even consider that deal?

Well, it would be Cato, Mobely and Griffin for Davis and Ford but you're on the right track. Salaries have to match, and Davis makes a lot.

    That'd be a bold move.

Dude, MacBeth (Is that Shakespeare?) that's hilarious.

TJ's agent would sure as he!! know what was going on. I'm not sure if I buy the story, but his agent WOULD know. Didn't you all watch Jerry Maguire?

007 - Toronto would do that because they get

out from under AD's contract, which is killing them
a good scoring 2, that they looked at before
    VC at 3, A.Williams at 1
EG, a top lotto pick with wiry frame and untapped skills, who they can groom with help from JYD, who will have his back.
Cato, a serviceable center, younger and much cheaper than AD.

Their team is much better right away.

    Cato
    EG /J.Williams
    VC / Murry
    Cat/ Mo Pete
    A.Williams/ Skip

Carter, Cat and Williams is pretty good, and apparently people still think EG can do something if he's not standing next to a much better 7'5" Chinese option. Cato just had a good year.

Rockets give up on disappointments & wannabees to roll dice for next big thing to team with Yao/Steve. Rent very good true power forward for a few years, (resign cheaper) get out from under Cato's deal quicker.

It's VERY Bold. You have to be convinced TJ FORD is the real deal.

He would put people in the seats at that new arena. And the coach has a real challenge - teach him the pg, make Francis a premiere SG (or combo), make Yao a star.

My main question is, if Francis and Yao can both pass already, why do you need TJ? Wouldn't it be nice to have them pass it back to someone who can shoot? Why not Lamar Odom, instead? At least he's 6'10".

Big gamble. Maybe, big payoff. Short window to find out.

no tj and steve. they just would not work together. it would be absolutely hideous on the defensive end. and even though i like tj, giving up mobley and cato is too much for him.

now if we want to talk about trading francis for say, the #5 and brian grant than im all ears!

    ford
    mobley
posey/griffin (than he can really be the next bullard/horry)
    grant/mo-tay
    yao/cato

ford and mobley together would be better than ford and "franchise".

If Toronto takes TJ and the deals still on teh table with Miami, I woudl do it. Bosh and Lampe (more of a project) would be very solid additions down the road, and just as NBA ready as Ford, imo. Ford will be decent at first, especially playmaking, but I don't see how he won't have troubles adjusting to bigger guards and not being able to shoot well.

The only way I think it could be true was if Miami was throwing in one of their overpaid contract players in the deal. i.e. Eddie Jones or Brian Grant.

Every single trade proposal I have read in this thread sucks for the Rockets.

Suppose that's why the Heat are "listening" to our offers. :D

    #5 Pick + Brian Grant

    for

    Cuttino Mobley + Eggie Driffin?

Okay, okay, it sucks for the Rockets. We can throw in Moochie. Now it's even.
