Don't know why anyone would be surprised by this, considering there hasn't been any indication he was ever on the hot seat. I was never a big fan of the hire and still not, but I can see the team's logic in giving him another season with this group, PROVIDED they hire someone that will more than adaquately fill Sampson's shoes. They need a strong defensive mind on that bench and they need to make some upgrades on the roster. Plus if Dwight and Harden are happy with him, then we probably need to just suck it up.
Rivers? The coach that was under .500 for the first 8 years as a head coach and was viewed as a weak link with Boston???? Carlisle? The coach that was fired in Detroit for a lack of playoff success? Then was let go from Indiana for being mediocre?
you mean im gonna see more stagnant offense and one-on-one basketball? AWESOME! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
If this is true... This one single move will undo all the good Morey has done. I'd rather a team like last season's where I was proud of how they fought and how the season ended. Instead of a team with championship aspirations only to be failed by the coach in the most crucial of situations. If Morey takes one thing away from Clutchfans. Please let it be that McHale is a terrible coach.
Depends on how that 1 year goes. And for all of those who already know how it will go....any gambling advice?
I have said repeatedly, since the day McHale was hired, that he got the job because he's a company man, same reason he survived so long in Minny.
Guys, maybe we just need to put one or two assistant coaches that can bring in the Xs and Os. McHale can be the motivator and player recruiter. Who would be good assistants to put next to him?
D12 should request the Rockets to trade him to the Heat or the Nets because he can't see any hope to win a champion in Houston
Just as I thought there might be a silver lining to this early exit, a wave of devastation crashes over me.
I've never questioned Morey with his decisions until now. There is no reason why he should be wasting the prime years of Howard with a coach that's gonna hold the team back with his questionable decisions makings. If we underachieve next season and McHale is gone, there is going to be a tremendous amount of pressure on the next coach especially with Dwight having a player option in his fourth year.
I find it hard to believe that the Rockets have already decided what to do with McHale. At least wait until you have a debriefing with all the players, right? I think there's something more to this, I.e. McHale plans to bow out gracefully/retire.
