What would we have to give up to get Thibs? The price will be high. Morey wouldn't do that. Waste assets on a coach when he doesn't even think the coach is that important?

Probably a pick. You can't give up players for a coach, right? It would have to be picks and/or cash.

What is with this board's obsession with George Karl? The teams he coaches are always the quintessential great regular season, fall apart horribly in the first round kind of teams. He's just as much of a roll-the-ball-out kind of guy as McHale, except he's too old and set in his ways to take direction and ideas from outside sources. Hell, I'd go get Kevin Ollie before Karl; better to try and fail with fresh blood than guarantee it by hiring a past-his-prime master of panic.

    ZERO interest in Karl.

Why not just put Doug Collins or Mike Fratello out there while you're at it.... rolling eyes

Nope, he won't lose his job, Morey will just say it was a fluke lose and give 100% confidence in mchale

    Which is sad

Lin, Parsons and asik are probably gone to

Defended him for the past three years and I don't see how he doesn't deserve to be fired.

Karl can't get past the first round either. Do not want.

Out of all the teams that will be looking for a coach, the Rockets might be the only ones willing and able to give up draft pick compensation to the Bulls.

The Lakers have already traded away their 2015 and 2017 picks, so the earliest they can give up is 2019.

Minnesota has their 2015 pick pledged to Phoenix, but it's lottery protected, so it might roll over up until 2016; Thus the earliest pick they can give up is 2018.

New York is hiring Steve Kerr.

Oklahoma City has the Dallas top 20 protected pick plus all of theirs, but I can't believe the ownership group is willing to shell out the cash necessary, and Sam Presti values his draft picks highly (and doesn't value coaching, as the employment of Scott Brooks and PJ Carlesimo).

    Cleveland is a hot mess.

I can't see the Bulls allowing Thibs to move to Indiana and stay in the division; it would just be a PR nightmare.

Randy Wittman probably saved his job with Washington; buck up Houston, at least this first round loss means that we get to fire our coach! The Washington Professional Basketball Club might be stuck with their clown nose for years if he manages to take them to the Conference Finals this year, which is looking like a strong possibility.

Utah is one team that has the picks and coaching need to outbid the Rockets, but you'd have to think that Thibs would rather coach this Rockets team that is clearly a 60 win contender in the hands of a competent coach, than a fully rebuilding squad filled with youngsters. Also, F* Utah.

If Thibs leaves this year, it would seem that he'd come to the Rockets. And if the Bulls won't let him go, then get Hoiberg instead; head-coaching experience, without being too entrenched as to lose the feel of the pro game. If Hoiberg was able to get Royce White to play like a first rounder, I have a feeling he'll be just fine at massaging the egos of Harden, Howard, and ESPECIALLY Lin.

I'd rather we just shoot Harden and Howard in the knees and keep McHale because that's pretty close to what getting Thibs AKA the Basketball version of Dusty Baker would be.

Also, Golden State has given up their 2014 and 2017 picks, so when they replace Mark Jackson, the earliest pick they can give up is 2019.

If the Rockets are hellbent on getting Thibs and the Bulls make him available, I guess it's worth a pick and maybe some cash. But I think there are plenty of quality choices out there. Regardless, there's no excuse for McHale to be back next season.

If McHale doesn't go this offseason, we're not going anywhere next season.
