Hakeem Mo Malone Robert Reid Lou Lloyd John Lucas I can't believe nobody put Black Magic on their list. I still remember he busted out with something like 28 points in his first NBA game, stealing the limelight from Sampson, I think.
It's time to lay down the crack pipe dude. Playing point guard has as much to do with decision making than anything else. John Lucas instinctively knew how to run an offense. He is easily a better point guard than Sam Cassell or Steve Francis. John Lucas made the entire team better when he played.
First Team Point Guard – John Lucas, no current or former Rocket knew more about running a team. Shooting Guard – Clyde Drexler Small Forward – Rudy T. Power Forward – Elvin Hayes Center – Hakeem Olajuwan Second Team Point Guard – Steve Francis Shooting Guard – Calvin Murphy Small Forward – Rodney McCray Power Forward – Otis Thorpe, he was a rock and much more consistent than during his stay with the Rockets than either Sampson or Chuck Center – Moses Malone
I think we need an All-Shooters team: PG - Kenny Smith SG - Murphy SF - Eddie Johnson PF - Matt Bullard C - Olajuwon 2nd team PG - Francis SG - Mobley SF - Purvis Short PF - Pete Chilcutt C - Horry (ok hes not really a C, but has played here from time to time)
Wow, Robert Reid made a "best of" in this thread, and somebody else's "worst of" in the worst of thread!
But can you discount the fact that his first drug suspension (with the Rockets, anyway) may have cost us a shot at the Championship one year, and his second one (a lifetime ban wasn't it?) gave us absolutely no shot against Boston. j
I can't argue with your points. JL was the most dissapointing of all Rockets. Had he stayed clean we would have had at least one if not two championships before 94. I am just speaking of their performance on the floor so he makes my team. If Steve Francis had game like John Lucas we would have been in the play-offs this season.
This is a freaking no brainer team: PF-Moses Malone SF- Rudy T. C-Dream SG-Calvin Murphy PG-Steve Francis Any other team would be uncivilized!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, I forgot about OT. He did all the dirty work and kept his mouth shut. Probably why no one remembers him. Couldn't make a free throw to save his life, but he always D'ed up and make the other teams 4 work. Man could he finish on the break, too. Wouldn't want to get in his way.
I'm not sure how much he kept his mouth shut. He actually had the "clubhouse lawyer" rep. We certainly wouldn't have beaten the Knicks without him. We just had too many good big men to include him on the list. j
I actually misspoke in my first Lucas comment. He was actually having one of his best seasons in 85-86 when he was suspended. I'm not sure we would've beaten Boston if he stayed clean but we would have had a shot. Boston was just awesome that year. j
Tim Mcormick- C Jim Peterson - PF Craig Ehlo - SG Scott Brooks - PG and of course Matt Bullard - SF Coach - Larry Smith
ahhh.....Team Bizzarro! Always one of my favorites. With Billy Paultz coming off the bench as a scoring threat. The television commentators for this team would have to be thorough, analytical, insightful, and add something to the telecast.
1st Team: C- Chuck Nevitt PF: John Turner SF: Derrick Cheivous SG: Dave Jamerson PG: Tito Maddox Honorable Mention: Dan Langhi Richard Petruska Erik Meek
It's fine if you have different opinion but leaving Drexler out and declare a no brainer is uncivilized !!
