Since the Raptors have the 4th pick, and this is basically at 3 man draft, they will draft the best availiable player. This means that they don't have a clue what to do with it. Safe money says they pick Kaman over Ford, becase it is much easier to finad a free agent PG, than a free agent C(and Olowokanki is NOT a quality center). The Raptors need help....everywhere. They are open to trades. It is very possible that the Rockets could ship some players and snatch up the 4th overall pick and even snag Antonio Davis or Jerome Williams? We can offer quite a bit to a team that needs depth at every position...Packaging a future 1st, and any of these players: Collier, Mo, Cat or Rice?
um...are you trying to get CD laughed at? the idea is to get toronto to trade with you, not to get hung up on. besides, collier's a FA.
before you start posting your trade scenarios read these posts. There are 50 different posts that talk about trades that will never happen. Go find one of those.
How about: Eddie G Mo T 2nd Rounder FOR Antonio Davis AD is a solid banger and would be a great fit to compliment Yao. Albeit, he has a oversized contract but then again, so does Mo T. So it evens out. I dont think it is wise for us to trade for any draft picks given that out team is already too young. A vet like Davis can do wonders for us. YAO Antonio Davis Posey Francis Mobeley Pretty solid team... I like JYD as well. Great energy player. I think his contract is a bit high too but he can help us immediately.
I don't see that. I would think they pick Ford and try to groom him to deliver the ball to Carter. They need frontcourt scoring and need out from under the contracts for Davis and Jerome Williams. If they could unload those guys with the pick and get replacements ... maybe then they can go with Kamen. But very few teams can swallow those kind of contracts and deliver replacements. Really, only the Rockets, Portland, and NY. My Rockets deal is Cato, something else? for Davis, Alvin Williams We get a prize for eating Davis' contract. They get a cheaper, younger center who can play. something else could be a lot of things, Rice, Cat, EG, Mooch whatever, depending.
I wouldnt trade Antonio Davis for Eddie Griffin straight up. Eddie will be really good in a few years when he gets stronger. He may never become that great of a shooter. But we dont need that with Ming and Francis shifting to take most of the shots during the game. But added strength will bring better rebounding, shot blocking, and better defense. And that will be exactly what this team needs. The last thing we need is a player like Antonio Davis. Which is a good player now, but what about when Ming gets very good in a few years and Davis cant play anymore. Then you look over at Toronto where Eddie Griffin is starting to play bettter and you have nothing to show for it.
The Rockets are not looking to get younger. They need a few more veterans that can contribute in their player rotation and just plain personal improvement from their own young players.
you re gonna trade 2 young all be it underachieving powerfw for an guy that is near the end of his career? if im trading both griff and motaylor, id better be getting elton brand..........dont get me wrong id love to get davis...hed be perfect for us, id do taylor and a 2nd for davis
thank you. apparently, hikanoo does not understand the rockets' championship window will not open until another 2 years - at the earliest. at that time, yao ming will be 24 and eddie griffin will be 22! antonio davis, OTOH, will be in his mid 30s. why on earth would you do this? btw, that window, for the rockets, could be open as long as 10 years. that is absolutely scary.
Toronto trades: Alvin Williams Jerome Williams future #1 pick *not this years for Houston trades: Cuttino Mobley Eddie Griffin Moochie Norris Trade Accepted Yea or Nay??
Mobley is better than Williams...Alvin Williams. But A. Will. could be a better fit for the Rockets' plan or vision. Griffin is better than Jerome Williams and also has more potential. Williams is one of the hustle players....hard worker..does dirty work...could fit for the Rockets... Moochie replaces Williams. 1st round draft pick would be nice for us. Hmm....well it's not gonna happen. So neither Yea nor Nay. Undecided.
Really we would just be unloading Moochie's contract, I don't think that Toronto would look at him as a replacement. Toronto could use their #1 this year on Ford and we could get their #1 next year. Jerome Williams averages 9.7 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.0 minutes. A nice role player that can D up and board which we need. Alvin Williams fits us perfectly if we plan on moving Steve to the 2. You're right SLA, it probably won't happen but what the hell it's more realistic then some of the trades on here.
I would love to have pass first PG like Ford. Passing is infectious, and TJ would make the Rockets offense sing. DD
"future potential" is a fat guy sinking the boat. Throw him in the river with his complaining brother "we're young". Yao and Steve are ready, lets surround them with vet and experienced players who bring some consistency and experience to Steve and Yao's inconsistency and inexperience.
First of all, please state what type of player you think Eddie will become in 2 years. From that point on, we can ONLY then intelligently debate about his future. For instance, if you feel he will turn out to be a Kevin Garnett and will play for below market salary, I would have to say you then have a valid argument. Despite the fact that I disagree with your premise. I do not question his potential (albeit, I think there are lots of other young guys with as much or more ex. Jonathan Bender, Kwame, Hillario etc.) but his style of play simply does not compliment our team. Those who claim that he will greatly improve after gaining muscle and time will make him into a great all around player (passing, cutting, shooting, setting screens) are a bit naive in my opinion given that that statement can hold true with just about every other young PF/C out there. For the sake of argument, lets look at a few other possibilites as well. 1. Eddie doesn't improve in 2 years- 7 pts, 4 rebs and becomes a Darius Miles. We forgone other trade options as well as wasted time nurturing him. 2. Eddie completely changes his game and becomes a Robert Horry type role player- Not bad but did we really need to wait 4 years to get a bonafide role player when they are available every year? 3. Eddie becomes a 17,8 guy that shoots 44% and 77% at the line- Not bad but those are EXACTLY the same stats as Rashard Lewis. Why didnt we trade him for Rashard earlier? 4. Eddie becomes a Kevin Garnett type stud- He will then say bye bye to Houston and leave for the max to another team since we already have Steve and Yao and cant afford him. In conclusion, Eddie may be a good player but doesnt fit the Rox from a fit standpoint not only on the court but off as well (long term plan). We are fortunate enough to have the cornerstones of the franchise identified (Francis/Yao) and all we need to do now is to compliment them with role players. We do not need to take huge GAMBLES with guys like Eddie. Lastly, as many on this board have expressed, this is a make it or break it year for Eddie. If he does not improve (like last season), he will be traded. But I ask you, dont you think it will be a bit late by then to trade him. Afterall, what will teams offer for a guy that has done little to nothing in the last 4 years. Thus, we should move him now while he still has some value before it is too late.
I think the most Griffin will be is like Donyell Marshall, 14pts 10 rebs and maybe a couple fo blocks. I think other than that, we're expecing too much. He doesn't have the footwork or atheleticism of a young Garnett or J'Oneal. His athleticism is more to the tune of Duncan.
