If we can somehow get past the blazers there is a very high chance we make it to the finals

Sucks to feel it and and even worse to admit it but, we have about a .00098% chance of wining this series let alone getting to the finals. Sadly just not happening. Poor offensive half court sets, woeful defense when it matters most in crunch time, poor coaching in pivotal mokents of games, and horrible officiating have all conspired to make a finals push a fanatsy at this point.

Ha the Finals... We barely field a team that is capable of playing in the postseason. We have no backup point guard and no game plan before or during games. We will be lucky to win another game.

I am thinking the Blazers feel the same way going to the Finals

I see where you're coming from. If(and this is obviously a hypothetical since McHale is our coach) the Rockets had a competent person leading them from the sidelines, I agree that this would've been a perfect opportunity for a long playoff run.

Look at it this way. The Rockets should've won this series. Technically they still can. They're not eliminated yet. But the odds are not in their favor and they have no one to blame but themselves and that includes their inept coaching staff.

And if they had beaten the Blazers, they'd have either an aging, vulnerable Spurs team that will have needed 6 or 7 games to beat a equally old, inferior Mavs team or the Mavs themselves waiting for them in Round 2. If it's the former, they went 4-0 against San Antonio. If it's the latter, they did only go 2-2(although one of those losses they gave away), but they'd have home court advantage.

And then flashforward to the Conference Finals. OKC may still beat the Grizzlies, but they are not looking good right now. And who the hell knows what'll happen with the Clippers? Either way, the two teams the Rockets have had the most trouble with this season would be ripe for an upset assuming either of them even make it that far.

And that's to say nothing of the East where the Pacers are on the verge of a massive flameout, the Bulls are already done, and the Heat are no lock for the Finals with potentially the Nets(who for some reason owned them this season) and the up-and-coming Wizards in their way.

Bottom line, if the Rockets go on to lose to the Blazers, they will have squandered a golden opportunity to at the very least gain some valuable playoff experience and at most make it deep into the postseason and possibly even contend for a title. A wasted opportunity and a wasted season. If that winds up being the outcome, I hope that's the epitaph for Kevin McHale's coaching career(at least with this team).

I think you meant to say "If we can somehow win game 5, we'll make it to game 6," because that in itself seems like a Herculean task right now.

If by finals you mean the Moral Finals, then I totally agree.

    crack is a helluva drug.

    0-4 against the Clips
0-2 against the Grizz (w/ Gasol)
    1-3 against OKC
    Not overwhelmingly better than Dallas

To say we are likely to make it to the finals and get 8 wins over those teams is more than just a stretch, Armstrong.

But i'll drink the kool-aid. Daniels is gonna shoot us into a ring ceremony next November.

OP is like a homeless beggar who just picked up a piece of newspaper on the street and saw some news of Obama and then said to himself :

You know what, I can be the next president and do better than this guy.

The Rockets will not make the finals while playing this poorly or while coached this poorly. End of story.

Too many things have to turn around for Rockets to win this... I'm hopeful but not delusional.
