how in the hell do you make sure your guys condition % is high during the offseason/summer?

When I play my first friendlies during late-July their condition is like 60% or so...

How is the CPU able to have it in the high 90s?

Teh only way to keep them high is to play friendlies. Generally when you start a new season player show as lacking match practice. I usually schedule 3-5 friendlies to get my players ready for the new season. In Friendly #1 I usually make mass changes at half. As my friendlies go on I begin to play my regulars for mos of the game and by the last friendly I play it as I feel liek I would for a league match. AS far as the comp. teams go I don't think you can get your guys to start at anything higher unless you do something in training, but I have not tried this. i think it is some sort of bug or the computer schedules more friendlies than you do so their players are ready for matched before they play you. The only thing I could suggest and I don't know if it will work is to schedule friendlies as early as you can after a season. That will help keep your team in shape

    Thanks.

Sadly, I have resorted to using the CM3 editor, and changing all my guys energy to 100% before my first friendly...

You are right - thats truly sad :)

Also I think training matters (maybe rest before games in the preseason) but why even bother about getting them to 100% before the first friendly as long as they are ready for the season?

A player's chance of injury is much higher when his fitness level is low, so you may not be as eager to play him in your friendlies. I think after that one big summer save, when they retire and regenerate players, all players that aren't injured are set to the same fitness level (70%?).

Well if I remember correctly I usually used to get them in the 80's for the first friendly some should also be in the 90's, and then play them for roughly one half each. And if you schedule a tournament don't put it early july. They are dead for the 2nd day game then. Late July, Early August - then there should be no problem.
