Don Nelson, Yao Ming's "American father"??

Mark Cuban will step up, about seven months too late, and offer Nelson a new contract.

But the one hitch will be the length of that contract.

If it's not a three-year deal, then Nelson will ask for a buyout of his remaining GM/consultant contract, and be gone
    to Maui.

Nellie staying on that island, however, is not a certainty.

One thing Cuban now has to factor in: the just-opened coaching job in Houston. No one is saying it, but Nelson is
already a prime candidate to replace his friend, Rudy T.
If the Rockets' two young stars, Yao Ming and Steve Francis, have their way, the deal is already done for Nelson's move
south. Ming has a long relationship with both Don and son Donnie because the Nelsons were way ahead of everyone in
exploring the China basketball market. Yao has told the Houston media that Big Nellie is his "American father."

Last summer, Nelson was close, very close, to pulling off a deal to get the No. 1 pick in the draft and bring Yao to
    the Mavericks.

Francis has long been a Nelson disciple, and, when Nelson missed time in the 2000-2001 season because of cancer
surgery, Francis phoned the Mavs' coach to offer best wishes.

ridiculous. Unless he was offering up Dirk or absolutely raping another team and giving us the plunder, no way he could have been "very close" with an offering of Nash, NVE, Raef, or/and Finley.

I'd take those four for Yao in a heartbeat!

    Nash
    Francis
    Finley
    EG
    Cato

    Bench

    NVE
    Mobley
    Posey
    Taylor
    LaFrentz

    That's a contending team!

i personally know someone that is a international scout for the pistons and used to work for cuban.....when i talked to him last year around this time of year he told me dallas was trying to pry the #1 pick from the rockets......and cubans comments "about yao being compared to shawn bradley" were a ploy to try to get yao.......the scout at that time told me dont worry yao will be special and he was right!!!!

Nash + Lafrentz + NVE + Finely is like 30 million!!! Rockets would have throw in their entire team just make the 15% rule. It has to be a lie. I heard Finely + Cash + Dallas Pick for Ming.

Hi Yetti I thought you lost more credibility lately than me:D Anyways, this seems to be the way we kill the summer time. Hopefully we get some reputation when the season starts?

    Go rox!

To be real honest with you, it seems that nellie might just being bluffing with cuban to get more money. I just can't see him leaving a western conference finals team to coach the rockets even with Yao Ming.
