So what's up with the #2 overall pick of the draft? Is he a huge bust? Or is he just still in shock? Or too stressed? Or does he have potential? Is he not being developed properly? Or does he suck? Jamaal Crawfords seems to be doing better..
I don't think he is a bust. If he can ever escape from triangle-hell in Chicago, he will be fine...but the system they ran last season suffocates his style of play.
Jay Will will be good eventually. I dont think he is a bust, he just didnt shine as a rookie like Ming and Stoudemire.
Hey, he'll be OK. But not in Chicago. Maybe we can send Francis to Chicago, Jwill and whomever to Minnesota, Garnett to Houston... There I go again.
Rookie point guards, with rare exception, suck. Williams has a lot of talent, so he'll probably develop into a really good player down the road. It just takes time to learn the point position.
I think Jay Williams had a real hard time with the Triagle Offense that the Bulls run. The Triangle is a very strict offense and sometimes hurts creativity and that is something Williams complained about. I thought when Williams AND Crawford were in the backcourt together (which was VERY limited) they were dynamite as a team! I am not sure why the Bulls were so adamant about NOT having them BOTH in the backcourt together. Put them in the backcourt and Rose at the 3 and there you go. I think Williams is still a solid player but I still think he is slightly overrated. He was supposed to come in and have an impact like Francis and Barron David did for their teams in their rookie years and he did not get near that level.
FYI, ESPN Insider today mentioned that the Nuggets are NOT married to the #3 pick and would look to trade it (i.e. Carmello Anthony) if they could get something of more pressing need (than SF). One trade brought up was the Bulls shipping Williams and #7 for the #3 pick. That would unload the logjam the Bulls have with Williams and Crawford and give them the SF in Anthony that they are looking for. The Nuggets would get the PG they are looking for at the #7 pick to draft one of those european guards. They also mentioned that the Bulls GM, Paxson, favors Crawford over Williams. Interesting!
Crawford started at PG the last couple of months, and had pretty good stats; great stats in April. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see Williams traded.
