A better coach would not tolerate this lack of execution.

Sure! He can work with Howard like Olajuwon, or scout .

Olajuwon is already working with Howard and definitely seems to be helping. No more need for McHale.

You want McHale to scout?!?! Royce White

Because I want a leader of men. Cal has done it with immense but young talent. Smart has done it with very little talent. And I generally hate old retreads.

what doesn't get brought up enough, McHale needs to CHALLENGE harden and howard more. harden defense would have a lot more effort behind it if it was a different coach. I feel like that is a certified fact. and that's crazy to think bc McHale has coached Harden for 160+ games.

Its sarcasm, he can work the gift shop counter at Toyota Center as long as he is not doing whatever he calls coaching.

Gotcha. Yeah I don't want him anywhere near the city. Nice guy, but so is my father. My father would make a terrible coach of the Houston Rockets.

The absolute worst part about this is that the West is completely wide open. So many upsets could happen that the Rockets could take advantage of, but they simply don't have a clue how to win games. They don't know how to close teams out. It's been a problem all year and it's the same problem that just ended their season.

Worst ever I've seen since 1991 in basketball
If McHale doesn't get fired its a travesty, people have gotten worse under him, Beverly and parsons defense has got worse as the year has gone by, its embarrassing I cant believe what im watching because you'd think a team of 5 professional NBA players would know what to do even if there was no coach, its as if he's worse than the team having no direction at all.

I agree, but I'd rather have Tom Thibodeau (if fired) or Lionel Hollins as coach.

It really does seem like Sampson gone = dumb/no defense playing team. Props to you Sampson - had no idea how much of a puppet master you were. McHale more of the muppet type.

    Time outs...

Why would Harden in game two take a dribble before calling time out
Why would Dwight pass the ball to Parsons and then call a time out?
Why would Lin not take a time out after that rebound
Why did Dwight not take a time out and get stripped by Batum on the floor (then Batum takes a time out)

    I'm all very perplexed...

McHale should take matters into his own hands, inform the ref he is going to call a timeout and then scream timeout himself just to make sure.

It is a cacophany of stupid.

Those first two, McHale did call a timeout before they dribbled or passed, the refs were just too slow to recognize the timeouts.

That's such a copout. Sampson left at the end of the season. There's no way a competent head coach couldn't maintain the defensive system that Sampson helped install. Did the players suddenly forget how to play defense after 70+ games just because the top assistant coach left?

The reason the Rockets' defense sucks is because they don't have a competent head coach, so as a result we do have a bunch of players running around on that end of the floor like chickens with their heads cut off. Also, McHale never held guys like Harden or Parsons accountable all season long for their shoddy defense, so now when they need to play hard and get stops, they're mentally not prepared to step up on that end of the floor.

    Mcfail is gone.

    Too bad this season's wasted.
If we had a competent coach, we would win this series easy and perhaps get to WCF.
I really like our chances against Spurs or Mavs. Oh well. Move on.
