Since far out trades are flying, I propose the following scenario. With LAC about to lose Brand and Miller, why not trade them? The trade sucks somewhat for the Clips, but they like recycling young players w/small contracts. They have good young depth to fill in for those losses. Houston gets a defensive PG and a great young PF...a Chinese teammate for Yao and a back-up PG. SEA gets another decent PG and a scoring PF.

    Houston trades:
    1st Rd Pick in 2004
Two 2nd Rd Picks from CHI
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)

    Houston receives:
SG Brent Barry (10.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.1 apg in 33.1 minutes)
    C Wang Zhizhi (4.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.1 minutes)
PG Keyon Dooling (6.4 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.6 apg in 17.6 minutes)
PF Elton Brand (18.5 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 39.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +9.4 ppg, +8.9 rpg, and +3.2 apg.

    Seattle trades:
SG Brent Barry (10.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.1 apg in 33.1 minutes)
    C Jerome James (5.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.0 minutes)

    Seattle receives:
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 67 games)
PG Andre Miller (13.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.7 apg in 80 games)
Change in team outlook: +6.3 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and +2.1 apg.

    L.A. Clippers trades:
    C Wang Zhizhi (4.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.1 minutes)
PG Keyon Dooling (6.4 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.6 apg in 17.6 minutes)
PF Elton Brand (18.5 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 39.6 minutes)
PG Andre Miller (13.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.7 apg in 36.4 minutes)

    L.A. Clippers receives:
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 82 games)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 73 games)
    C Jerome James (5.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 0.5 apg in 51 games)
HOU 1st Rd Pick in 2004
Two 2nd Rd Picks from CHI

    Rocketman,

Small attempt at humor (by me), but a three team trade involving 9 players and three draft choices is not like a 9 team mega deal.

Shark44, unless I'm mistaken, the Rockets can't go 2 years in a row without a 1st round pick. Unless we trade to obtain one for this year, we won't be able to trade our pick for next year.

FYI, you can't go far wrong by posting a trade idea in one of Hottoddie's threads... those are good places for them and get lots of views. Don't stop trying to come up with good ideas, just remember that we're trying to cut down on the number of new threads in general... it bumps a lot of good threads off the front page before many people get to see them. :)

Let's hope we GET Coach Brown!

You're right, it would have to be a 2005 1st rounder...good catch. I'm excited about an opportunity to rewicker our team a bit.

Got it Deck! Thanks for the tip, I have noticed a lot more threads since I returned from my hiatus. I'll look for those threads after I throw out the last idea I have below.

Gotta throw one more at ya...

    Houston trades:
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
    Future #1

    Houston receives:
SF Toni Kukoc (11.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg in 27.1 minutes)
PF Jason Caffey (5.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.8 apg in 17.5 minutes)
PG Sam Cassell (19.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.8 apg in 34.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +6.3 ppg, +3.5 rpg, and +3.8 apg.

    Milwaukee trades:
SF Toni Kukoc (11.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg in 27.1 minutes)
PF Jason Caffey (5.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.8 apg in 17.5 minutes)
PG Sam Cassell (19.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.8 apg in 34.6 minutes)

    Milwaukee receives:
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 62 games)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 73 games)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 82 games)
    Future #1
Change in team outlook: -6.3 ppg, -3.5 rpg, and -3.8 apg.

I'd love to get Cassell back, but I'm not really sure he and Steve would blend as well as a guy like Brent Barry. Both Kukoc and Rice are in the last year of their contracts. Bucks would only consider this if they could retain Payton, but its still in our favor.

See, that's not a bad trade, except I don't think that you'd really need to include a future 1st rounder.

    RM,

I through in the extra one, because we get the better part of that deal. Kukoc has a bit more left and Caffey could help watch Yao's back. Sam was my son's hero in his Rocket's heyday...probably led to the overpay!
