Well i know we getting a new coach and all so lets think about draft day. We only have 1 pick our second round pick and at least lets get whats worth for it. Well i hope some trade happens that we get a first round pick and we give up a 2004 first.

Back to the topic our second round pick would be a bench warmer but at least lets get someone better than Maddox.

my guess is that we would pick

Charlie Villanueva 6-10 215 SF Blairstown, NJ HSSr.

He would back up Cat so Cat wont be the man that plays most of the game.

How would a 6'-10" smal forward back up Mobley? You know Mobley plays the 2, correct?

What we need is a point guard for this team.....to back up Franchise.

Actually we do have a late 1st round pick that we acquired from some trade with Detroit that people love to forget.

Kendrick Perkins - someone to bust EG and MoT's a$$ in practice. 6-10" 280 would build some toughness over at Westside. Athletecism, athlete-shmism, we need someone to bounce these guys daily in practice.

I don't really care. I definitely don't see any reason the Rockets should try and trade up for a first round draft pick. This team doesn't need anymore rookies/young players. Plus, I don't think there's any definite "difference makers" outside of the top three picks.

I actually hope the Rockets use the pick as an add-on to a bigger trade for a veteran player, and by veteran I just mean someone who has been in the league at least three or four years.

However, if they must use the pick, I say invest it in a European player who wouldn't even be able to join the team next season due to overseas contracts. I think that would give you better quality for such a late pick, since most teams would pass on a player who wasn't going to be available immediately.

Well put DCKid. I agree. I really could care less about this draft. We do not have a first round pick so there is really nothing to get excited about. A cuttino in the second round is fairly rare.

    We need veterans, not rookies.

It would hurt to trade it to another team for better value next year or the year after. This pick appears pretty much useless to us at this point. but with a new coach, I think he'll use the pick to get his feet wet.

Draft isn't important. While the Raptors or Heat boards are all discussing the draft.....................................us and the 76ers don't care. The 2nd round pick won't mean much....unless we get really really lucky.

2nd round pick isn't a guaranteed contract. The player drafted in the 2nd round will most likely not even make the team. Do we even have room for another player at this point?

Let's draft Steve Blake to backup Franchise.

Either that or Kendrick Perkins to groom at the end of our bench until Cato's contract runs out.

it seems like theres alot of guys coming out of high school this year who arent rated nearly as high as labron. draft.net has them going in the second round and kendrick perkins was already worked out by the rockets.

id love to draft a high schooler with awesome potential to sit on the bench and develop slowly ala jermaine o'neil. itd work out with our plans to sign some veterens bc by the time perkins or whichever high schooler we draft is ready to contribute, we'll be ready for another injection of talent.

but then again, there were a couple high schoolers who came out last year and didnt even get drafted? NBDL?

I'd like to pick up the best player in the draft, Carmelo Anthony.

If I'm taking any player, I'm taking an older player in the draft...

A senior that can play a role on the team...

I still would love to add Uche Nswondu-Amadi 6'10/260 bruiser from Wyoming...

He will make all of our big men better just from practices... Going against softies like Cato, EG and Taylor won't help Yao get better...

I just say take the best player available but I still think adding a senior player(no matter what position) can only help us...

Forget about adding some 18-19 year old... We are young enough... I'll take a 22 yr. old senior who can play a role over a 18 yr. old who thinks he's ready for the NBA but won't get drafted til the middle of the 2nd round...

Sorry if a HS player is not smart enough to go to college and go pro to get drafted in the 2nd rd. then obviously he's not very smart...

Milicic is a physical defensive minded Euro, a ball handler (used to play PG for his team) w/serious offensive skills.

Altho he is only 17, he has played in pro leagues since he was 15.

    Not your typical teen.

And did I mention he is already 7'0 250 and being compared to KG, Nowitski and Peja?

Houston Rockets scout Brent Johnson, right, talks with Beaumont Ozen High School star, 6-11, 290-pound Kendrick "Baby Shaq" Perkins during workouts, Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Houston. Though the Rockets don't have a coach they still continued their talent search Wednesday by working out Perkins, who has declared for the June NBA draft.
