It's a good idea. Let the Clippers fall to pieces and stay out of it.

They should be focused on winning the GM4.

I don't know how many of you have seen this... but this is the audio recording of Donald Sterling saying what he said:

I totally get the "you either have to be part of the solution, or you're going to be part of the problem" concept.

Temporarily refraining from comment while the NBPA comes together as brothers to address the situation as a unified force does not constitute a commitment to silence on racism. The opportunity to stand up and speak out will still be there once some of the dust settles.

Like a couple of people in this thread have noted, we don't have clear evidence that any Rockets players are being "held in silence." I think that is only implied by a non-verified source (OP).

Well, they are being silent about the issue. I actually appreciate Lebron's comments on the situation and him taking a stance. I don't see a problem with a player saying what he said, and commend him for not having someone else speak on his behalf.

Dwight Howard should be using all his free time to practice his free throws

    Something to consider...

I'm sure we can all agree that Donald Sterling is a pos... but who are gonna be the players that start runnin off at the mouth saying something that might get them fined by the league or something...

Whose gonna be the guy that says something like "... and I'm sure that Sterling is not the only owner that thinks that way..." or "... and by the NBA allowing Sterling to own a team while having those views proves the NBA is therefor racist..." or some other flip comment that turns into a big mess...

jus sayin, better the bs goes to some other teams player....

still it is stupid of the Rox to put out such an edict... not good pr

I don't see the point in asking players not to comment. Doubt that the team could really stop a player who want to comment anyway.

So if Dwight Howard says what he really feels, then what? Is the team gonna really punish him?

If he doesn't sell, I think it's safe to say the Clips are done. Unless they win it all as is, they're not going to get players to resign or keep bringing them in like they have been...

People keep asking Amick on twitter who told the players not to comment. No response, won't confirm or provide a source.

Only quote so far is Dwight's, saying, "I can't say how I really feel." To be fair, Dwight's quote could mean anything, including "I'd like to respond like Snoop did, but I'm not going to," for example.

OP is the only one stating that it was the Rockets front office. Thread title is conjecture.

It's amazing to me still... that a man that looks like that, at that age, can buy a woman that looks like that, at that age.... and both behave like it's anything more than a business arrangement...

Considering mister Sterling's point of view in this particular area.... There's no way she was attracted to his "inner-beauty".... She clearly sold herself to this man.... to be his trophy girlfriend, and occasional sex pet... so, why does she care that he's racist...?

Why is he even arguing...? He cares what others think of his personal/private escort....? The hell...? As if people don't immediately have a preconceived idea (likely 100% correct) of the nature of their association as soon as they see them together... As if they're going to be outraged about what one of this millionaire's perks' background is or personal activities are outside of their relationship...

Great decision IMO. Why deal with that distraction right now?

The problem with it is that they might get unwanted attention for what they might say. What if they say something that not everyone feels the same about? They'll get the whole media attention raining on them. And that might distract them from focusing on the playoffs.

And I don't see the point of asking the Rockets players about Sterling, because they got nothing to do with him at all. They want to know the Rockets players opinion only for media sensation, that's all. And that's all just distraction in the game of basketball.

They won't get any star quality players, that's for sure. But there will definitely be some D-league players/unknown players willing to play for Sterling, if it means a chance to play in the NBA and make a name for themselves. BTW don't they have to meet a certain minimum cap or else they have to pay some fines. So maybe they'll give 5mil to some D-league players, just to get to the minimum cap.
