Take reading material or other busy work. I sat in a room for 6 hours before being sent home without any other kind of participation.
I wouldnt say it`s fun, but it`s a good experience. You will all meet up and asnwer a small questionaire and then divide into groups. You will then go to the courtroom where the lawyers will ask you a few questions. If your picked you will then meet and start the trail although in my case this was at the end of the day. Our trial lasted 5 days. It`s been about 5 years so I may have left out a step or two but if you get picked try and look at it as a peek inside our judicial system
Not really adding anything to the thread, but anyway... Homer: Now, what was I talking about again? Bart: Ahh...you were telling me about the time you got off jury duty. Homer: That's right. You see, the trick is to say you're prejudice against all races.
That sucked. I just sat there for 3 hours and did absolutely nothing. I rather get picked next time and do something.
No you wouldn't. I got picked two years ago and I had to sit through five of the most boring days of my life. I would have gladly taken three hours in exchange. Even worse, I have jury duty again on June 7. I'm praying I don't get picked this time.
Yeah, I was once selected to serve for a nasty custody battle. So, for four days I got to watch two people (and their lawyers) attempt to make one another look as incompetant as possible. Be glad you weren't selected.
Before you answer any questions just think, WWGD? (What Would Glynch Do?) No prosecuter in the world will let you sit on his jury.
wouldn't that be cool if i had a jury trial that day? Other Attorney: "Do any of you know any of the parties or their lawyers?" Mrs. JB: "Yes...I know that one over there. He's MadMax. I had lunch with him and my husband once." Me: "Your Honor, I have no idea what she's talking about. She's clearly lost her mind. I have no idea who this woman is. You should hold her in contempt....at the very least she should be the foreman of this jury!" Then you might rethink that whole, "I thought MadMax was a jackass, but he turned out to be a nice guy" statement! Turns out...I'm a jackass!
Okay the way you guys put it, now I am rather glad I did not get picked. I didn't even remember I had jury duty today. Before going to sleep last night at 2:45 am I remembered I had jury duty sometime this week or next. I didn't even make it there till about 8:30. Damn confusing ass Downtown roads. Half of the freakin roads are closed due to construction.
