larry bird only had 3 seasons over 7 assist per game while lebron has 6 and like kevc said lebron's assist percentage is higher than birds as well all the stats show lebron is a better passer unless you're using the "eye test" and even that's debatable.
Maybe I'm getting him mixed up with someone else but man...what conviction and defense of the hick from French Lick!
Here's some early footage of Larry Bird's passing: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/b5kaRbokoo8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hard to compare Bird & LeBron. Bird was a true forward and LeBron is really more like a PG. What this basically means is that Bird was a **** ballhandler and LeBron has guard-like skills there. Most of Bird's passes were initated from the post, where he was masterful, wheras LeBron gets a large number of a assists off the dribble. I personally thought Bird had more "WTF how did he do that?" passing moments (2nd only to Magic) but that may be nostalgia.
Ast% is not substance, when misused. Why do you keep thinking that your statements have substance? They don't. The reason you can't compare Ast% between the Celtics and Cavs/Heat is because Bird brought a passing game to the Celtics. They played a high level of motion, which means assists are distributed. But his '86 team had something like 75% FGs off of assists. And he led that team to learn to play that way. He got Bill Fitch fired, so they'd change their offense to better suit a passing game. Lebron's teams don't play motion. Balls in his hands much more often. And he's a excellent attacking and passer, so we'd expect his Ast% to be higher. But, they are two totally different offenses. One distributes assists around 4 players (and the blackhole/McHale), the other doesn't. And whoever said Bird can't dribble is also mistaken. Now it is your turn. You give me substance of why you think Lebron is a better passer than TMac, and not misused stats.
Nothing in that rambling filled with baseless assumptions did you ever provide reasons how Bird is a better passer than Lebron. In fact, you almost gave evidence that Lebron is. So Bird is a better passer because he "led the team to learn to play that way"? Haha okay. So just because he's a good coach means he's a better passer than Lebron? So is Rick Adelman the greatest passer of all time because of those Kings teams?
You still have yet to give one piece of substance to any of your comments. Not one. I just explained how you are misusing Ast% and you simply either ignored it or don't understand. You have no substance at all to your claim that Lebron is a better passer than Tracy McGrady Oh, and where in my comments did I mention Bird as a coach? So sorry you never got to witness Bird or Magic. It's rough being a yungin
kevC has no substance. So heypartner is bringing it. Sit down kids and watch these videos. Magic and Bird are the best passers ever...by far. I mean,,,Stockton and Nash are great, but they aren't 6'8....and that rhymes... Lebron and Tracy McGrady are equals at passing. But they ain't no Magic and Bird <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/eFrRnWEt3Z4?hl=en_US&version=3&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/eFrRnWEt3Z4?hl=en_US&version=3&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/EhnRtgBGMl4?hl=en_US&version=3&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/EhnRtgBGMl4?hl=en_US&version=3&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/4mF9xdLyJGA?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/4mF9xdLyJGA?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/6VpCzaGRjAQ?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/6VpCzaGRjAQ?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
so that there is SUBSTANCE ... and y'all thought I couldn't deliver. I baited you kevC...sorry...rookie. this is like 20 SUBSTANTIAL minutes of Larry Bird giving LAYUPS to his teammates. Layups. Not one of the 20 minutes ever shows Bird passing to a 3 pt shooter. That would be a complete nother 50 minutes of video. This is just layups. For those who think Magic and Bird weren't on a plane way above the NBA world, way way way above the world.... I'm just sorry you didn't get to witness it.
I get what you've been saying in your posts today...but really the way you've been going about it has kind of nullified your argument in itself.
So you agree that the substance argument is based on my factual posts. And everything else is about LeBron vs TMac
