I got the official offer two days ago and will be departing in September.

I figure it will be a lot like this:

    Hilarious! :)

    Good luck, fadeaway.

And what's up with all these yellow signatures? I guess many people have switched to the dark side...

    Thanks, everyone.

oski -- I'm going Navy so I won't be sent anywhere like Bosnia or Afghanistan (well, maybe the Arabian Gulf).

rH -- Supposedly, the Canadian drill instructors don't yell much anymore, if at all. Whether or not that's true remains to be seen.

SSG -- I won't be here for this year's football or basketball, but I'll almost certainly be around for baseball next year while I do second language training (they make officers learn French). After that, it's hard to say.

Hey fadeaway...I've been in the Navy for about 8 months now. I know you're wondering what everything is like so give me an email and we'll talk. [email protected]
I'll be honest unlike your recruiter.. :p

Never hear that anymore. You was thankful to get 20. Now its " 8-Count Body Builders/Mountain Climbers/Push-Ups/Squats until you die/bleed.

Well thats all I heard anyways... :(

    lol

It's really more of a morale thing. Some Canadian francophones feel more comfortable talking about personal problems in their native language, so they make sure that all officers are bilingual.

Angle -- You're right that the recruiters don't have much real information. However, the assessment board I attended a couple of weeks ago gave me an excellent idea of what navy life is all about. We toured two ships and all the various training facilities, and got to speak with a lot of different people, both officers and NCMs.
