So does that mean he doesn't want to play for 31 other teams? You have to understand that these guys get asked a thousand questions. A lot of times, we miss out on the context of the question and only see the responses. Again, he's mentioned wanting to come to Houston as well...so either way, saying he doesn't even want to come here is silly.
Vikings have the 8th pick. So if the Texans traded the 1st pick for the 6th the Texans will draft before the Vikings. And the Jaguars and Browns will not draft a QB in the first round. There are better options at 3 and 4 than drafting a QB.
The Texans should try and trade for the Rams' 13th pick. That way we get 2 first round picks. Draft Clowney and Bridgewater.
Stop defending him... Regardless on if that's how he felt _ he shouldn't have said that... I've been through the draft process a few times with family members and agents go over with players on how they should answer questions "so things won't be taking out of context." And I'm sure the Texans paid attention to what he said... And here we are a few months later after he made that statement hearing trade rumors to Atlanta.
He was asked if he would want to play for Atlanta, and he went along with it...but he also didnt want to play for Atlanta if it meant being the 6th pick, like he said. Therefore, if he wants to play in Atlanta, he said he'd wish theyd trade for him, otherwise, that would mean he'd slip in the draft. It's not defending him...it's just not being overly sensitive about a comment that means absolutely nothing. And the reason the trade rumors to Atlanta are there is because they need a player like him...hes a perfect fit for a need that they have. Plus, theyve shown a willingness to trade up in a draft, like they did for Julio Jones.
Saying he wishes Atlanta would trade up to the #1 spot because he doesn't want to fall to the #6 pick is above and beyond just going along with it... That kid isn't playing with a full deck.

Im sure he'd like to play for Atlanta...but your original comment was that he doesnt even want to play for Houston, which is just not true. Yes, he's not playing with a full deck, but a lot of these guys arent. It just comes with the territory.
Let me rephrase that... "He'd rather get drafted by Atlanta." How's that...??? Just the same him saying that is something the Texans probably didn't want to hear if they want to draft him.
What the hell is wrong with Him wanting to play for the team he grew up watching and is also closest to home? Adrian Peterson said he wanted the Texans to draft him, are we gonna bash him too? Jesus, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what Clowney said.
Bob McNair may feel differently because it's his money and not yours. And I don't think AP had questions about his work ethic, motivation to play, etc. and he didn't have a questionable underperforming final year in college. Plus AP is one of the few people that many thought could have went pro straight out of high school... That's not a very good comparison but I get your point.
Are you a Johnny football guy, because just like many people have pointed out you are making something out of nothing. WHY would he say he doesn't want to play for his home team. That's any if not every athletes dream, your just looking for any reason for the Texans not to draft him.
Unfortunately, as we've clearly seen over the last few seasons, the football offseason means sports media going in to TMZ/gossip mode. I don't think we should parse every quote looking for a subtle misstep or slight: Clowney would rather play for Atlanta, Manziel wants to be the first rookie to win a Super Bowl, etc. In fact, I'd encourage that we unite and start ignoring this. The only way to get sports media to give us more analysis and less gossip is to stop participating in the gossip side.
Actually I NEVER said the Texans shouldn't draft him because of what he said... And in the post you responded to I said things like work ethic issues, motivation to play, and poor performance in his final year. But yet you pick out him wanting to be drafted by Atlanta as a reason I don't won't him drafted by the Texans.
The first pick the Texans ever made was for a tackle. They understood needs but it didn't work out. PLUS, Carr was worse after he left the Texans. Pretty silly rant. Dude just has to deal with being a 1st pick bust.
nah there's a lot of truth to what he's saying. Obviously Carr bares some responsibility, but it was clear Boseli was not the player he was before the injury and the org never committed to o-line protection the way they should have.
david carr - talk about beating a dead horse... no one even remembers you & your historical bust.. stop bringing it up ya dummy.
If the Texans want to consider trading the pick then they have to take Clowney since he is the only player that has the draft trade value at #1 pick. Pick Clowney, and then see what offers harden up for him.
I just choose the last statement you put on the board. But to put it simply, again you are making something out of nothing.
