Howard/Asik twin tower to start the game would solve it better. But the offense would lack behind and you'd also have to start Lin over Beverley. A categorical no-no for McHale.

Unlikely he was transitional as he would have been replaced when we got Howard.

I think Morey made a mistake. I didn't get the McHale hiring, and went back and forth on how good of a coach I thought McHale was. There are some positive things about McHale. But a coach has to meet expectations. And when you have a team falling apart like it is right now. When you have a team that is saying stupid stuff, quitting on the floor, hanging their heads. A team that doesn't know how to handle the media. A team that doesn't know how to really compete and looks scared before the game. A team that has critical defensive break downs in the 4th qtr over and over and over again.

You have to think the coaching is lacking.

Bring in a coach that can get guys to play like a team on both ends of the floor. McHale didn't do it. Maybe that's not his fault. But you know what, it doesn't matter.

You can't get rid of Harden. So you might as well send a message to Harden by dumping the coach and letting Harden know theres no more excuses now.

Would be more dramatic: Morey fires McHale first, then Les fires Morey.

James Harden has also been telling people that the team misses Kelvin. Video below:

It seems Morey does not know how to go about hiring a coach, the way he seems to know exactly what he's doing in picking out players - this was always a shortcoming of his.

Eh, it was his first coaching hire and we were not an attractive team at the time. The candidates were Kevin McHale, Dwayne Casey and god I can't even remember the other guy.

The truth. The coach that held a superstar accountable had left. The coach that refuses to hold a superstar or himself accountable is still here.

Others have speculated that cyberx is strategically allowed to make unofficial leaks. I do wonder if this is a prelude to to the firing of McHale. If the Rockets lose in the first round, a head will have to roll... (that would be the minimal number.)

Adelman was Morey's first coaching hire.

Makes me wonder if Morey thinks coaching is all about stats/system and he was searching for a coach that would implement Morey's coaching style.

The Sampson was a better coach and now he's gone so that's why we're losing, taking point is not a good one. McHale growing desperate. Hope he can turn things around in game 3.

I know people revere cyberx around here, but exactly who is the fly on the wall in meeting between McHale and Morey? I don't believe anyone close to Morey would be leaking this stuff, and McHale's not going to leak it.

Or, maybe he hired Mchale to help get Howard here. Now that Howard is here, it's time to bring in a better coach.

At the time, I felt the "It's official, the numbers say Beverley deserves to start over Lin" op was an official unofficial leak from the Rockets organization. From the level of Morey himself and immediate advisors, I felt. I feel cyberx is something similar - he puts out information they want put out.

If that is the case, then it's because:

    (1) Morey knows McHale is not a championship coach. And has made the decision that McHale has to go.

    (2) Morey has to cover his ass. He is gonna look real bad to the ownership, and also to the entire league. So he has to recover. He has to do what the Clippers did at the end of last season which is to jettison an obviously non-championship caliber coach, and find one who is.

JVG would be a good fit for this squad as long as he focuses on coaching instead of personnel movement. (Remember he brought in ex-Knicks like Charlie Ward and Clarence Weatherspoon to play major minutes during Yao/TMac era.) But I like his defensive philosophy and how he instilled toughness to the team. With the talents we have I am willing to sacrifice some offense for elite defense.

Heh, would be a total deja vu if JVG gets hired, once again, to replace a former star forward known for being a player's coach but is criticized for not getting his team to play with sufficient discipline.

It'd be the Rockets coach circle of life. Player's coach to defensive disciplinarian to offensive guru to player's coach to defensive disciplinarian...

You know, dude still live in Houston and has shot down every rumored coaching job offer all these years.

I know it won't happen but I would love to see Jerry Sloan get his hands on Harden.

SVG is the best choice of all the realistic candidates.
