I have thought all year but this has been especially validated the last couple months IMO. Chandler Parsons is your fourth or fifth best player on a great team. He could serve on that team as a 4th offensive option. His defensive has regressed steadily every year and he is below average in that regard and also in defensive rebounding. He is a solid player but isn't worth much more that 7 Million and cannot play next to Harden. James Harden is also poor defensively. But if we intend to commit to him as a cornerstone of the franchise then we need to actually build the team around Dwight/James. Sadly the SF that needs to be starting next to these two needs to be a better defender and rebounder. Cannot go into next year starting Harden/Parsons IMO.
I always said we need to get rid of parsons...I like him but someone is gonna offer him a crazy contract and he will leave..trade him for rondo..sign luol deng...or trade him to New York for melo..parsons game has regressed
You can't have Jones, Parsons, Harden in the same lineup and expect to play competent defense in the playoffs.
Knicks has CAA complex, maybe Fegan has a role in the way parsons was used, rack up stats and play half-assed defense.
duh, you cant have your two wing players as awful defenders. Yeah i said awful, Parsons is a bad defender and rebounder and Harden might be the worst defender in NBA history. For a guy that might be the fourth best offensive player in the league he is an embarrassment on defense. I like Parsons but lets be real, the Rockets need a SF who is a better shooter and defender. But the Rockets also might just need a coach who actually....well you know coaches. Call a play, my gosh make adjustments, bench players who dont show effort...its just embarrassing... Sorry what was I talking about
I agree that Parsons and Harden should not be starting together. But I could see Parsons sticking around in a Manu Ginobili type role, coming off the bench for 25-30 minutes per game. (This would necessitate getting rid of Lin, but we're probably going to do that anyway.)
i agree, not sure why people still think he's a good defender. he was a decent defender his rookie year. but he was overrated even then - probably due to kobe's comments. but the rockets will take care of him next season - same agent as dwight.
So now people are saying Parsons can't start/play with Harden. And Lin Can't start with Harden. So whats the solution? Play Harden and Dwight + 3 Defense only players like Bev? Maybe the problem is with Harden and not with all the other players?
exactly. u pay the guy max contract, u ride him to produce to match the value, not kneel down and cover his slack. the kneel down and beg him play well method is a mistake from start.
I guess we're committed to Harden - but when is the last time the best player on a championship team was an all time bad defender.
