I remember Sampson was also the one who worked with Harden during his shoot-arounds. Probably could use some of his folksy and picturesque pep talks right now.

Don't know if there would be a mutual interest, but if Indiana loses and they fire Vogel I would love to go after him. SVG would be another choice I would love. I don't think Lionel Hollins is realistic since he reportedly hates the analytics minds. George Carl is a name everyone around here liked to throw around all season.

Definitely some good options available. If we were going to let McHale go, this would be the year to do it if he fails to get it done this series.

If Sampson is so important, can we Skype him into the huddle with an iPad? The college season hasn't started yet, so he should be able to clear 3 hours every other day for this, no?

The team has too many chiefs, the coaching staff doesn't have enough Indians.

Hell no to George Karl if you have any hope of Harden ever playing serviceable defense.

I stand corrected, knew someone would have this stat. Still, while watching them in the regular season, our D didn't seem all that consistent. Though I guess we didn't get blown out over and over again.

All I hear from McHale is general talk. "These guys gotta hustle. The ball has to move. We aren't getting our shots." WTF?

Morey needs to own up that his philosphy of shooting 3's is not working. We ran absolutely nothing last night

We only shot 16 3's last night, 10 under our season average.

The problem isn't whether we're shooting 3's or not, it's that we're not running ANYTHING to get us better shots that are OPEN.

2 top PnR ball handlers in Lin and Harden and one of the best PnR rollers in the NBA yet we ran very few PnR's.

The top transition scoring team in the NBA, but we're not pushing the ball up the floor off made shots and not enough off misses.

Switching to a post up and kick game when for 82 games we've been running a transition and motion offense leads to a bunch of the guys on the floor unsure what to do and standing around like zombies on the perimeter.

Not running screens is fine when you have a motion offense predicated on drives to the rim, but if you have a guy post up on the block you NEED screens and cutting to force movement and to open shooters and passing lanes.

In terms of the offense, McHale and Co. have done just about everything possible to take away our strengths as a team.

And the defense is a complete wreck.

500 posts in nearly a decade and you're claiming to have sources that have some of the most lock down juiciest news in Rocket land...doesn't really add up. If you had connections that good you would talk more often.

Or he would talk less often so he doesn't get fired.

Talk too much and it's easy to track a leak. Do it only occasionally and he can let out select juicy tidbits out for a very long time.

Just like those Texans had a top ten defense last season too, right?

Every other night someone is going off for season or career highs.

Watch LMA's full highlights to remind yourself how brain dead we are. It makes me sick to my stomach.

After game 1 everyone said "oh they better double team LaMarcus." Hey just getting a guy to actually check him up was the best we could do.

Watch again how many wide open jump shots. How many times a simple pick n roll would end up with 2 rockets running away from Aldridge like he's invisible. How many times did he just casually back up as his defender went away from him to help on a driver. Seriously, we are helping off of Aldridge so he is wide open? Completely losing him on the court? Allowing him to be wide open after a pick and roll? And then when we do have a defender on him, only half the time the D is decent. So many of those shots you'll see so much space, often cause we're rushing to close in too late. Like he isn't the guy who scored 46 pts the first game.

That was our adjustment. That was our response to his 46 pt game. Awesome. Wonderful.

Of course towards the end he's hitting crazy contested shots. Why wouldn't he? We let him have a casual shoot around of wide open jumpers to make sure he can heat up.

Insane. Game 2, let's let Aldridge have free shooting practice and expect to win this time. Forget in-game, in-half, in-quarter adjustments. We can't even adjust in a series. This isn't complicated. Why do you think Aldridge and Matthews are smiling like that. It's like they're thinking "Wow they really are do this. Well sucks to be them."

    And yep, it does.

So frustrated with McHale right now.

Did McHale just admit he doesn't coach (at least defense)? What is he doing on this team?

I surmise that the reason Morey is holding McHale accountable for the defense is because our offensive philosophy comes from him?

I'm not just referring to the 3s, frees, and drives, but also our main problem which is the freelance offense. Reason I say this is because Vipers run the exact same offense. In fact, their coach was quoted in an interview as saying that the more play-calling he has to do, the less he has succeeded as a coach.

"Smith believes coaches too often try to control the game by calling plays and directing the ball to certain spots on the court, so the Vipers have very few sets.

"As Smith says, “If I can have a game where I don’t call out anything, then we played well.”

    grantland.com/features/nba-dleague-rgv-vipers-houston-rockets-future-of-basketball/

I was amazed when I read that because that's exactly how we run the offense. Anyway, my point is I hope Morey does not interfere with coaching strategy as much in the future. Look, the Vipers were eliminated and here the Rockets are about to be.

Let whoever the new coach is to be coach, and the analytics are just one input. Stop playing at coach.

I saw those too! Incredulous. To Asik's credit, I think it was Dwight who was leaving him open. Asik stuck by him, just couldn't slow him down until the endgame.

It's puzzling to me to see the decisions McHale makes on substitutions. He isnt even trying to see if anybody else can contribute...instead he runs the same lineup, with the same results, all while running the team to exhaustion by the end of the game. Way to go, McHale...
