You guys are dreaming if you think the Nets have a chance. Barring an injury, the Nets will grind to a halt against San Antonios crushing defense. The Nets half court offense is not that great, witness Detroit slowing them down to a crawl... San Antonio has that stifling defense, but unlike Detroit, they have a GREAT player in Duncan, and a very solid supporting cast. San Antonio is just too good, and mark my words, Kidd will have fits with Parker, Kidd has always had a hard time with guards who are quicker then he is, and Parker is a LOT quicker then Kidd. DD
i may well be dreaming Dak but the Nets defense is much better than that of either the Mavs or Lakers. Sure the Pistons still slowed them down and they still won.
The Nets overall defense is much better than Dallas and Lakers. They know how to swarm the post, something especially bad for a low post team like the Spurs. Individually, Duncan so far has abused weak pfs that don't play much defense. KMart will be a lot more difficult for Duncan to handle than Robert Horry or Nowitski. Unlike last year, Kidd scores a lot better this year. Plus the Nets are coming off ten wins in a roll. This will be a very competitive series.
I think there's no way Mutombo will play unless nets become desperate, let say 0-2 or 0-3 behind in the series. If Scott has any intention to use him, he would have played him some garbage time in the series against detroit and boston. After complaining about his playing time in the series against bucks, I think Mutombo has been in the scott's doghouse. I think Spurs are the better team but they can be vulnerable if nets somehow contain duncan and let the other players to beat them, just like the Suns strategy. The missing jumpers of spurs perimeter shooters are equivalent to the fast break of nets. I think Parker, Bowen and Jackson are all streaky shooters. I would feel most comfortable with the ball in the hands of Ginobilli down the stretch, of course except duncan. But the problem is that scott doesnt like to double team against their opponent. He didnt double team shaq all the time last year. If Martin plays duncan one on one, he will get in foul trouble quickly and the nets offense will be significantly affected. But on the other hand, if somehow nets would get Duncan into foul trouble, Spurs are a horrible team. Spurs lost thier playoffs games this year, most of the time was because Duncan was in foul trouble for a long stretch in the games. I hope nets will at least win 2 games in this series.
The Nets are better than the Mavs w/o Nowitski and the Suns--both of which have given the Spurs trouble. Those of you expecting a sweep are widely overestimating the difference between these teams. I do think the the Spurs will win--because both defenses will nuetrelize all players on the court save one, Tim Duncan. But I expect the series to go 6 or 7.
What are the odds Dak, and how did your gambling scenario work out from a while ago, must of gone south as we haven't heard about it.
Never say never. Luck is part of the game. The Spurs are one injury to a certain player away from winning it all. Does Chris Webber ring a bell? I wish TD the best in the world, but NJ can pull a Dallas at any time. Doesn't help that Martin sometimes plays like a thug.
