Anyone remember this? Did Larry Brown even mentioning this in today's conference?

Brown would love to see Jordan working for 76ers

PHILADELPHIA -- Larry Brown floated the idea last week of having Michael Jordan work for the 76ers after he was unceremoniously let go by the Washington Wizards.

Brown said Monday he planned to follow up by offering Jordan a position with the team.

When asked which one, Brown said: "Whichever one he wants."

But unless Brown were to yield some of his responsibility as vice president of basketball operations, it appears as if Jordan's role would somehow affect 76ers general manager Billy King.

Brown denied that, hinting that Jordan would serve as some sort of advisor to him and the players.

"Billy has done so much," Brown said. "We work in partnership. No way would it impact Billy. We would never do anything to offend Billy. Billy is as good as they get, and he's only getting better.

"But from my personal standpoint, [Jordan] would be great for me."

    King wouldn't comment about Jordan.

Jordan retired after the season, his final game being at the First Union Center on April 16. He is sure to get offers from various NBA teams. He already has a standing invitation to work for the expansion team in Charlotte that will begin play in the 2004-05 season.

It is not known if Jordan is seeking partial ownership, or if Ed Snider, the chairman of Comcast-Spectacor, which owns both the 76ers and Flyers, is willing to accommodate such a desire.

Brown is hoping his and Jordan's mutual ties to North Carolina could help sway Jordan into coming to Philadelphia.

"I would think I'm not the only one sitting back here thinking how he can be an asset to a franchise," Brown said. "I don't want to see him out of our league. And if there's a way we can be helpful to him or if he could be helpful here, I'm for it."

Brown said that holds true for his players, too, even though the young players in Washington were often rankled by Jordan's tirades. Brown said that won't be a problem with his players, especially Allen Iverson.

"I know Allen admires Michael," Brown said. "The big thing with Allen is, if he knows someone wants to make him better and cares about him, he'll respond. That's what Michael is all about."

This belongs on the NBA Dish area of the BBS, not in Rockets action and roster...

Isn't Larry Brown on Rockets roster in 2003? :D Anyway, I mentioned since it seems to contradict some the conspiracy theory here on Les talking to Larry Brown before the season.

If Larry Brown and Les had talked about coaching position in Houston before end of the season, would he have looked foolish giving Jordan invitation to Sixers? Remember, it was only 10 days ago.
