I'd gladly take on Felton's contract if it meant getting Melo for 4 years. Wouldn't be ideal, but I'd do it.

Our true window with Howard starts next year after our offseason haul.

WE ARE NOT WAITING FOR DURANT.

With all due respect, we aren't "dumping" Asik. He is a top 5 starting caliber center. This guy is going to bring back major value....centerpiece of a Melo/LMA/Love deal IMO.

I'm with you on going after Lowry......

I remember the same rumour last summer for Dwight. Wonder if its the same luxury estate agent that's leaking it. If we can get Melo at the expense of Asik, Lin, D-Mo, Jones, Parsons or whoever, I say go for it... you don't pass this opportunity up.

    Jackson has no leverage.

There is no bid war in this scenario.

Rockets will line up deals to clear the cap space. Utah, Charlotte, Philly are all teams that I am sure would be more than happy to be bribed to take decent players.

It will probably cost Dmo and a pick as most. Rockets will then contact Melo and ask him if he wants to come here. If he does, Morey will call up Jackson and ask him if he wants to make thing simple and just SnT Melo to us, while keeping Lin/Asik, etc for himself. If he does, cool, Melo gets a little more money, we maybe don't have to pay as much to dump those assets, and we make it happen. If he says no, we just make our other trades and sign with cap space.

If NY knows that Melo is leaving, say for Houston, Parsons is the one player the will want in a trade, so are you guys OK with a Melo for Asik, Lin and Parsons?

Hate to lose him, but if it means getting Melo's butt down here to complete our super team, then Parsons will be the proverbial sacrificial lamb.

Hell yes its worth Lin, Asik and Parsons. I thought we'd have to sacrifice more.

The Rockets also have leverage in this deal. We're not obligated to take on Melo. Our options are:

    1. Take Melo in a reasonable deal.
    2. Wait for Aldridge in 2015 and then make a big push to acquire him.
    3. Wait for Love in 2015 and then make a big push to acquire him.
    4. Convince Bosh that Lerbon and Wade are treating him like a little B over there in Miami, and that we would actually appreciate him over in HTown.
    5. Stand pat. You know, with the best SG and C in the country (ok maybe Cousins or Davis have overtaken Dwight, but I would still argue that fully healthy and confident Dwight we won't see until next year).

Morey is never going to make a deal that would hurt the Rockets. When was the last time he pulled an Otis Smith and took back an albatross contract in return for an aging all-star? Yeah. We have no reason to worry.

I would gladly take both Felton and JR if that means we can get Melo.

Can you imagine Melo, Harden, and Howard on a team? That would be a sure path to the finals.

That would mean absolutely minimal defense.

Don't want Melo. He is not a winnerand he is a ball hog. The flow of the game stops when he touches the ball. Not enough balls for him and Harden. He couldn’t win with Denver Nuggets. George Karl couldn’t change Carmelo Anthony’s game style. No coach can. He couldn't win in New York and and him and JR Smith together are simply poisonous to any team building.

I think when the opportunity presents itself to acquire a star player like Melo, you take it. We are in WIN NOW mode and will not wait another year just for chance to get that 3rd star. You take that chance now and figure out how they play together after... Morey said so much previously.

I'm on the same lines with Old Man Rock. I'm not sure at all that Melo is the guy Houston needs. I would prefer a top quality player with a little lesser ego.

I'm pretty sure you can't do this... a Team cannot directly talk to a player that is still signed on another team...

Melo is a Free Agent. None of what you three are saying applies.

Umm..yes it does. Players prefer a S&T, because their original team can pay them more money than a new team could. Melo would get significantly more money if we did a S&T with NY, as opposed to just signing with us as a free agent.

Under the new CBA, there is no additional money a free agent can receive in a sign and trade versus a traditional signing without bird rights.

I really don't understand why people don't attempt to educate themselves on a topic before speaking on it.
