Paul Silas

This is the coach that will lead the Rockets and not let the players(steve and cat) do what they want on the floor plus he is a very good big man coach. Would be great for Ming! Maybe he could teach Cato how to score in the post and teach MO Taylor how to rebound. He would also be the great player influence being that he won a title as a player. This is who I want to see the Rockets Go After!

Agreed. Silas got the raw end of the shaft at New Orleans. He was brilliant in the playoffs - he just ran out of horses. He can flat out coach and should be on Les' short list.

I don't know much about him........and he may become a Mavs coach.......but sure.

Just not John Lucas. Or Kenny Smith. Or Charles Barkley.

I think He is the Best available coach right now. Lenny Wilkens is to old. Larry Brown Whines to much about quitting after every season. John lucas is to good of a friend with steve and cat to bruise there friendship. We don't need any College Coaches. Paul Silas is about winning point blank period. New Orlean's Lost is Our Gain.

Silas is good, but that requires someone on the Deity level.

You are probably thinking of Del Harris.

From 1989-92, he was an assistant for the New York Knicks, including one season under Pat Riley. Following his illustrious playing career in the NBA, Silas was the head coach of the San Diego Clippers (the franchise’s ninth head coach) for three seasons from 1980-83.

It was the Clippers not the Rockets.

Im in the Silas camp right now- he did get the shaft in New Orleans, considering all of the injuries they had to endure. I think he would have the respect of the players right off the bat- he can just point at the injuries and point at the results with them. Granted this came in the Eastern Conference, but of the available coaches, he looks to be the best.

I actually think he'll end up as our man. I think the intrigue of LeBron will be too much for Van Gundy to pass up. I think Silas is a better fit for our ball club anyways. If Stevie or Cat are making some stupid decisions, Silas is gonna get in there face and let them know it, where as Van Gundy will be hard pressed to even raise his voice at them.

Drpepper, you got a point, everytime i hear Jeff Van Gundy's name i think about him grabbing onto Alonzo's leg

Seems like a legit candidate for coach. I dont know anything about his style other than the fact that he was very well liked among his players, and did well with what he had (winning).
