Considering that Dragic's contract is cheaper than Lin's I am going to take a wild guess and say yes.
That's not how this works. The question was, would we have been able to make the move to get Harden? Cap experts please give us your take.
Lol, Dragic cost his team the game by turning the ball over at the last minute. Looked like his teammates wanted to cry after that. It was sad.
Thats exactly how it works. Lin was signed before Harden and Howard came abroad. Considering Dragic's contract (that the Rockets offered, and the contract that he signed with the Suns) was actually cheaper than what rockets gave Lin, it would not have prevented the Rockets from getting either of the two. The deal breaker? Player option. Which Dragic is going to turn down anyways. Oops.
It kind of is how this works. Both players signed before the Harden trade and Dragic's contract per season is a bit less than Lin's.
Eh, Dragic cost his team a lost [according to you] after the team was predicted to win 20 games (up to 30 by some) this season? You have got to be kidding me. This team has more than doubled their expected win total according to most experts. Dragic has had an awesome season(top 5 PG). I don't think many people saw Dragic's potential at the time he signed the contract with the Suns so I can't blame Morey, but clearly Dragic is a better player than Lin.
Harden's numbers are outstanding and that's why he doesn't get the same level of criticism when he has a bad game. We know what we're going to get from Harden the vast majority of games. The caliber of Lin's play can vary widely, so much so that he looks like he doesn't even belong on the court at times.
Why is it that everyone else PASSES to teammates for better shots, but when it comes to Lin, it's "defers". This word has been beaten to death by you guys (LOF's). It implies something like "he could score on his own anytime he wants, but unlike all the other players in the NBA, he's forced to pass it off. Not because anyone is better than him, or shoots a higher percentage, or has an open shot, or that he has no confidence taking the shot himself (he has no weaknesses!).... but because he must deferrrrrrrr. Is "defer" another coping mechanism for those who can't bring themselves to fault Lin for anything, i.e. his persistent lack of confidence?
I wish we would have Dragic. My cars broken down and I'm poor and I lost my job and my wife left me and when she left, she ran over my dog. Cry me a river buddy, cry me a river.
Wow.. you need to chill out, its not that serious breh.. you keep going on and on about something nobody else gives two craps about. 1. I don't think anybody doubts (including Lin himself) that Harden is the best player on the team. I don't think anybody really thinks even Lin himself, that he can score the ball anytime he wants and he's just forced to pass it. So I don't know where the hell you got that from. Your comment just now....Wtf? 2. I actually agree with you. When Lin passes the ball to Harden he is doing simply that. Some people like to analyze every play and spin it as deferring bc lack of confidence blah blah. I really don't think Lin or any NBA players think about things like that in that split second on the court. They're just playing ball. Armchair quarterbacking at its finest by internet commentators who have no clue what they're talking about. 3. Its funny what you said because mostly its LOHs that use the word deferring when it comes to Lin because it implies a lack of confidence rather than just making a basketball play. Lol the irony. 4. I haven't seen many LOFs on here lately so who are you talking to exactly and whats with the obsession?
http://www.shamsports.com/2013/07/omer-asik-and-jeremy-lins-contract.html $8.4 million/year counts towards the cap which is a more relevant figure.
Let's not make it seem like all of Phoenix's success this year all hailed on Dragic. Gerald Green may be MIP, Horny up for COY and guys like Plumlee, Morris, Tucker, and Bledsoe for parts of the second half stepping it up. I'm in no way trying to discredit Goran's amazing play but this Phoenix team does not have any star power or a player that can truly take over a game when it counts. They were simply winning by committee with different guys stepping it up each night along with a great coaching staff. Very similar to the 9th seed Rockets teams on those dreadful years. By the way, being 9th seed is the worst thing that can happen. There is no moral victories when it comes to the mediocrity treadmill. They technically would have been better off with 20 wins instead.
I am just going to say this in the most gentile way I can: you are stupid for thinking that one player may cost a team a whole season. Think about the 47 wins and who helped the team get there.
