Can someone post a summary of player's performance? Only checked in sparingly and I missed our 4th quarter .
without the early Twin-Towers failure, and Bev/Howard being out for 2+ weeks late in the season, we would've been a 60-win team this year.
Grateful for a great season. Lots of ups and downs and drama, but we are in a better place than last year.
Figured this would happen - as soon as SA pulled their guys in the 3rd I knew it was over, even when we got behind by 5, they were playing their scrubs and we were playing our regulars - no contest. DD
Is Bickerstaff the only voice after McHale? I wish I could at least hear the other assistants talk. The way they give an interview will gather me a picture of the competence of this staff going into the Play Offs...
Now this is how it's done! <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>RT <a href="https://twitter.com/NBA">@NBA</a>: Alley-oop to Jones, who finishes HARD! <a href="https://twitter.com/spurs">@spurs</a> vs. <a href="https://twitter.com/houstonrocket">@HoustonRocket</a> on NBATV <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23NBARapidReplay&src=hash">#NBARapidReplay</a> <a href="http://t.co/3Csa8DPERb">http://t.co/3Csa8DPERb</a></p>— Houston Rockets (@HoustonRockets) <a href="https://twitter.com/HoustonRockets/statuses/455883932710354944">April 15, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I hope McHale has enough smarts to rest the starters next game. Am afraid that he is so competitive that he wants to win meaningless games as well. Whereas I get the impression Pops doesnt seem to care if you win or lose now, just as long as he gets the BIG prize in the end.
Yeah, Pops definitely sees the big picture. That's because there's a lot of (well earned) trust between him, Buford, and the Spurs owner. Just a solid organization from the top-down. Although I wish they were in the East.
Woohoo HCA to the Rockets! I was at work so I couldn't reply earlier after the game. Also, gratz to RGV! That was a gutsy win!
This was an unimpressive win for the Rockets. They got outplayed by the Spurs' second unit for a good part of the second half. Pop used the game to try some defensive sets against Harden and Howard, and also used some Plan B alternatives if the ball rotates to another hot scorer. Spurs got Houston to take the shots that Pop wanted them to take. In watching that game, I felt that the Spurs were toying with the Rockets and setting them up for the possible second round matchup. I also don't understand why McHale would play Beverley 36 minutes when he is dealing with a tear and had an awkward fall at the end of the last game.
On the other hand most of these Spurs have been together forever and IIRC don't have anybody just back from injury the way we do. It might not be a bad idea to play our starters together for at least part of tomorrow's game to try and get back in rhythm before the playoffs.
Nobody besides Goran and Bledsoe is all that good on that team... they don't have any Chandler Parsons, Patrick Beverley, Omer Asik type roleplayers. When your third option is either Markieff Morris or Gerald Green, you're gonna have a bad time. That said, they look to be where the Rockets were last season... got some good pieces to build around, just need to add another star to the mix. But if they lose Goran to free agency when he declines his player option they're in for it.
Harden - couldn't make a shot outside the last cpl minutes, decent facilitation, defense was a step up to average, C+ Howard - the most dominant force in the game, when he was in, we outplayed them, A Jones - his energy provided a continuation of the same problem san antonio has suffered against him, A- Parsons - pretty good despite some offish shooting, B Beverley - made some decent drives, usual defense, 3 ball was off, B- Asik - the only bright light of a dismal bench, B+ Lin - flat, shot off like Harden's, C- Garcia - Didn't do a lot good or bad, C Dmo - Played 8 minutes for San Antonio, F
