He doesn't like players making poor decisions, putting in no effort on defense, and making the same unacceptable mistake over and over again. Lin jumping in the air and picking up the dribble in the paint irritates a lot of people, so I'm sure it would piss Bill off more than anyone else since he has commentated for so many years and have seen all kinds of players come and go. He only started getting really irritated with some of Lin's mistakes this season, and it's understandable since he didn't correct them from last season.
Bill Worrell is the best commentator in sports for me at least. I like his euphemisms and everything.
Not sure what broadcast you have been watching if you don't think Bill praises Lin when he plays well.
Just because something is true doesn't mean that a TV play-by-play guy harping on it repeatedly makes for a good TV product. There is a difference between a TV play-by-play guy's job and posting on an internet fan forum.
He was attempting humor re: yesterday's Masters. You obviously missed the reference. All my life, I've only known Bill and Gene. While Ackerman has done a decent job, I'm not sure I'm ready for Bill's replacement just yet. Can't deny his better days are behind him, but IMO that has more to do with a diminished supporting cast. Having Calvin back would be sublime. Just like the good ol' days.
He does praise Lin when he makes good plays. However, it seems to me that Bill complains about Lin more than he does other guys in similar situations. When Lin got caught on a screen and Austin Rivers got past Dwight Howard for a basket, Bill would say "You gotta play some defense!" When the same thing happens to Beverley today, Bill would say "Boy, Tony Parker is such a great pick and roll player."
Bill will have a couple mishaps in a broadcast and fans call for his head.. Him saying it was a TNT broadcast instead of an NBATV broadcast was funny. Even Clyde echoed the same mistake because, y'know, baby seals. We have been seriously taking Bill for granted; there aren't many better than him. Some will say that he is a homer, dont even see why this is such a problem. There is passion in homerism and it shows in the broadcast with his reactions to plays. it's fun. Fans will whine that Bill is a homer yet cry that the ESPN and TNT broadcasters aren't enough in Rockets favor.. come on, now.
Remove Calvin Murphy and Clyde Drexlers jobs, and keep Bill. Matt Bullard can leave tho. I like Bill and Murphy together.
Replace*** Calvin Murphy and Clyde Drexlers jobs, and keep Bill. Matt Bullard can leave tho. I like Bill and Murphy together.
