I guess I'm just trying to understand the logic. If they were meaningless games why would he play durant for 42+ min each game? What possible benefit could this provide? (I know you're not a mind reader, but what do you think would be the reason?)
First sweep of SAS by the Rockets in 25 years. Hard not to like that. Assuming we get past Portland, I think we're probably the 2nd best match up for the Spurs beside OKC. The Spurs have real problems containing Dwight and Harden, and Beverley and Lin actually match up decently against Parker as Parker is more of a heady PG than a speed demon. The real question in my mind is what are Dmo, Garcia and Casspi going to bring? They've been real hot and cold, with in some cases less hot than cold. Having play makers in the 2nd unit doesn't help if the 2nd unit wings can't knock down open shots. =x
Check the wire, a reporter asked him couple days ago and he said : He is 25 and young, there is no reason for resting him, I am sure he can handle it, we are talking about just 39 minutes a day in his life. So, no surprised here that Durant had been played this way.
Great win! I really hope McHale rests our starters now and give our bench some playing time to get their confidence up for the playoffs.
Since for some strange reason the Spurs and Rockets are the regional teams down here in the RGV with the Spurs games taking president over Rockets games, I am watching the Spurs post game show. These Spurs post game announcers are overly confident that the Spurs will sweep their first Round series and Sean Elliot stated it will be great for the Spurs to play the Mavs and then Rockets to beat them both. I believe it will not be easy for the Spurs this playoff time.
Sigh... It must be nice for a coach to have so much confidence in his bench that he will play them over the starters in crunch time. Pop has that luxury, McHale does not. People always complain that McHale runs Harden and Parsons to the ground . We'll he has to, look at the pile of crap we have backing those two up.
Thunder can still lose the 2nd seed, especially with today's loss. Clippers just have to beat the Blazers (who have nothing to play for and will most likely rest their starters or limit their minutes) if the Thunder lose against the Pistons at home. Doubtful but still possible.
I find the lineup with bev lin harden parsons howard is most versatile, unclogs the lane for harden/lin to drive, more speed defensively as well
